LAST BATTLE! Type: Normal Trap Effect: You can only activate this card only if you have 1000 or less Life Points and only during your opponent's turn. Choose 1 of your Monsters on the Field, and destroy all other Monsters on the Field. Your opponent Special Summons a Monster from his or her deck, and both Battle (Damage to players is negated). At the end of the turn, the player with the remaining Monster is the winner. Otherwise, it's a tie.

Our seventeenth card of the week is going to be another one from the Mythlogical Age expansion, entitled Last Battle. Next week, we will be doing Gilford the Lightning, and then a pool will be held for the next few cards.

Truth be told, there isn't quite much to tell when Last Battle. All this card is, essentially, an alternate victory condition for people will "fatty" Monster Decks. Though it seems nice, its usage is somewhat limited.

One thing that makes it fall on a crutch is the fact that it requires you to be at 1000 Life Points or less. Though easy to deal with in a planned environment, it's hard to control when the game is not going your way. The thing is, 1000 damage can be done to a player quickly, and with a variety of Magic and/or Trap cards. This is a dangerous situation to be in.

So, how does one do it? Well, Last Battle is a natural in Devil Franken decks. Use a card that requires Life Points (such as [Confiscate] or [Mischevious Demon Twins]), use the Devil Franken's ability to grab a BEUD from your deck, and that will be all she wrote.

The one thing that you have to worry about is a little guy called the Retrained Elven Swordsman (or, the retrained Celtic Guardian for those who want English-level names). Since it can't be destroyed in battle with Monsters that have an attack strength of 1900 or more, this will result in a tie.

Edo's Rating: 2 out of 5. Last Battle is hard to use. It's nice that it gives you an additional victory condition, but the fact is that you have to do a lot of workarounds to make sure that it's used effectively, and not become slices of useless cardboard in your deck. My suggestion is to use it in the Devil Franken deck. Other than that, you're hard-pressed to find easier ways to use it.
