Assault on the Crawlers Nest
It is common practice among adventures between the levels 35 and 40 to go to the Crawlers nest in Rolanberry Fields for partys. So it was no suprise when I left my mog house to immedeately recieve two seperate invitations. My friend Kougaiji, who had been leveling his redmage with me, had surpassed me and already reached level fourty so i have some catch up to do. So i start the day at level 37 and head out to the Nest after making sure i had all the proper atire on my person. when i reach the Nest and meet with the rest of my party i find that the tank of this party is a ninja. Now ninja tanks have a couple of good pluses going for them, but only in the hands of a skilled practitioner of the art. unlike A paladin, the ninja has to build uup hate more gradually. so any huge damage dealer, like myself, has to be very careful not to use any powerfull attacks to soon or hate management will be destroyed. i have partied with ninja tanks before that were excellent. It seems most people do not really put the time into the job neccessary to truly grasp its concept though. Most people use this job for thei sub job and dont really have interest in taking it all the way so they dont spend the neccessary time. This is unfortunate because many people get wiped out from the lack of commitment. It seems this day was my turn.
Several factors led to my problems in the nest this day. There were several parities in the immediate vicinity so finding a mob to pull was hard. When the mob was found it was often a very far pull which caused two problems; first Rangers are not know for having high defense. actually the great dammage abbility comes at a price of low defense. so my health often was already in the red by the time i got back to the party. The next problem created was the Ninja tank had a hard time getting hate from me so even if i got back to the party alive i had a good chance of being incapacitated. As frustrating as was i also had to deal with party politics. It seemed the rest of the party was unhappy with the speed of the kills. However the blm. who was the only other mage refused to use his extra Mp for backup healing. so whem the whm ran out of Mp that was it for five muntes till he got it back. After requesting them to have Blm backup heal they resorted to complaining about my job. I didnt pick this party but it had too little healers, and not enough Damage Dealers. normaly if you dont have much healing magic you compensate by getting overkill in the Damage dept. Or if you have weak DD you get over kill in healing and a good tank. we had neither. It was sad that my damage output tripled that of my nearest DD gap sholdnt be that great. Eventually the party broke up after the leader got in an altercation with another party nearby for encrouching on their camp. I think these guys were pretty new adventurers at least that is the excuse im sayying because otherwise they realy needed help. The night ended frustratingly with out even one level. There is always tommorow though.
