From the 19th Hole

Friday December 12

Round 3

Friday 12 December was a bright and sunny morning. Richard, Brian Thrush and I waited by the driving nets, practiced on the putting green, sat on the bench outside the starting hut. Why were we waiting? Neil Martin was late leaving his office and then managed to get lost on the way to the course. If anyone in Auckland wants to get to the Chamberlain Park Golf Course take the Western Motorway out of Auckland. Go off at the Western Springs off-ramp and turn left. Take the first road on the right and look for a large golf ball on a pole with the words Chamberlain Park Golf Course on it. Neil, if you get lost again make a printout of this page.
Anyway we all started at about 11am just as the clouds started to band together in the skies above.
Where someone made par I have marked with a * because the round was remarkably free of birdies.

The feature of my game was my putting. I managed on several occasions to get on the green in 2 shots and then completely bugger up the putting. Next time will be different, (the cry of the addicted golfer methinks).
Richard showed more control in his play and managed to avoid the majority of the trees and also the water hazards.
Brian's driving game was excellent after a few holes to warm up, (especially after the 2nd hole when he managed to hit the same tree twice in a row). Neil's game was consistent and all he needs now is a bit more control of the ball.
All in all a good game was enjoyed by all. The only distraction was Brian's cellphone ringing. There was a networking switch that shut down due to overheating several times and killed all the computers in two buildings when it died. When the switch shut down people rang Brian to get it fixed. This proved difficult while teeing off from the 15th.
