From the 19th Hole

Thursday January 15

Round 5

The day was sunny and there was nary a cloud in the sky. Perfect golfing weather. Richard, Brian and I had cunningly applied for annual leave today just to play a game of golf. The last few days at work have been a bit crappy with computers dying and financial reports and payroll to go through.
Yet despite all this we downed tools and got on with the job at hand....
We played with an amiable chap called Andrew. He described his game as "erratic" but after his first drive found the lip of the green we began to wonder what he meant. Andrew was in corporate banking but had been made redundant 3 months ago and this had improved his golf game in leaps and bounds. He found the reduction in stress was a contributing factor.

Again the feature of my game was my putting. I cannoned the drives off the tee on most of the holes, (we'll just forget about those 3 trees on the 12th), and once on the green I managed to completely bugger up the putting. I can only attribute my success in driving and fairway shots to a change in my driving stance. Up until now I have addressed the ball with it on a line between my feet. I now have the ball on a line with my left foot and this seems to allow a lot more power to come into the shot, (well it feels more solid). This golfing tip was given to me by my father. As all children know Rule 3 of having parents is....

Richard's goal today was to score under 125. This he achieved and so his day was made.
Brian's driving game was excellent but the greens seemed to have the same disdain for Brian as they had for me. Brian managed to come out ahead by finding 2 balls in the creek, (one of which he gave to me).
Andrew's game was so far ahead of the rest of us that I don't think it is correct to comment on it.
