June 22 1997 : All on my own... while in the other arenas......
Raxx's Story....
As the CO has pointed out on numerous occasions we have to check what the mission is for Sunday. I checked my mail, I waited in the arena, nothing was heard so I took off and belted about in my bf109K4. It wasn't until about 5pm that a message got through on the squadron channel that all the RNZAF had been in another arena, (doh!). Here are a few shots of the "Darkening Skys" style mission that the lads ran without me, (sob!).

Later on there was a B25J run at field 17. This was aborted on the final run into f17 because other purps started attacking the field early. We overflew f17 and lined up on field 14. The Greens had the same idea and laid waste to a large portion of the airfield. We capitalised on this window of opportunity and closed f14. I think Stcm, landed the field. 3192 and myself went on to hit and help close down field 17 with our remaining bombs. The next run was a bit of fun just to annoy the golds. 3192, Ozzi, Stcm and I tookoff from f14 and hit field 15 flying B25H bombers. While successfull in closing f15 not a single bomber returned to base. Below are the bombers on the runway, (otr), and a map showing the success that four crazy B25's can have in an hour.
After this 3192 and myself beetled about trying to close field 16 and to give the golds a hard time. There were only 4 golds and 5 purps in the game so it took a bit of searching. One unlucky gold in an F4U Corsair tried to vulch 3192 and myself as we tookoff from f14. The poor fella didn't realise that you never go head-on with a B25H. Those 8x.50cal sure turned the fool into dogfood. 3192 got him from behind and I hit him from the front. The result looked like confetti and 3192 got the kill.
That's all I know or at least all I'm willing to tell........
