Lee called for a plan to march 12,000 men towards the Union. Lee then realized it wasn't going to work. The plan of wearing down the Confederates had worked and the Union gained a colossal victory. On July 4th, rain fell over the battfield, and Lee and his forces retreated. This turned out to be the turning point in the war. This battle will go down as one of the most improtant ever in American History.
