1. How do you talk to enemies?

You can't actually talk to enemies. If you click on an enemy, there is a chance that the enemy will be pacified (stop attacking you) depending on your language skill with the enemy. For example: If you have an orcish skill of 63%, there is a 63% chance that any orc will stop attacking you if you click on it.

2. I'm stuck in a dungeon. I have weapons of silver, elven, and dwarven. I'm being attacked by gargoyles and nothing I have will strike them. What do you need to use to hit them?

Mithril is the material one step above Dwarven. It can hit anything, including Gargoyles. See my tips section, page 2, for a tip on how to obtain Mithril.

3. Where is the unicorns horn in shedungent (dungeon), part of Direni's tower quest.

The Daggerfall Chronicles seems to be very inadequate for this particular quest, but I can still set you on the right track. At the very beginning of the dungeon, there is a magically sealed door in front of you. Click on the banner to the left of it and it will ask you for the password. The password is "shut up." Once in the main room, exit through the door in the back. I don't remember many specifics, but the general idea is to keep going up. If you come to a part where the way is blocked by a portcullis, you are going the right way. Earlier you will have passed a room with three levers in it. Go back, find the room and pull all three levers. This will lift the portcullis. Keep going up. At one point you will find an intersection of two pathways, with three directions you can go. I tested all three before I found the right one. At the end you will find a dark room with a horn in it. Click on the horn and your quest is complete.

4. I can't seem to get work or quests anywhere. What do I have to do? My amount of money is messed up it says I have about 25000, but when I say drop gold, I have only about 1000. What's wrong?

To get work, you have to keep on asking people, but I wouldn't recommend it. The jobs are never worth the gold. Join a guild that suits your character and take quests from them. They may or may not give you a reward, but your reputation with the guild goes up which works toward your promotion. As for your gold, you only have about 1000 gold PIECES. Probably have about 24,000 gold in letters of credit.

5. I have joined more than one guild and I only want to be a part of one now. Is there a way to quit a guild or get kicked out?

You can't "quit" a guild, but you can get kicked out. When your reputation with a guild goes below 0, you get kicked out. The best way to lower your reputation is to accept quests and fail them. After a while they should kick you out. (I have never actually done this, but it works in theory.)

6. Hey, ive been stealing stuff from the odd blades after it closes alot and ive noticed that my encumburance has steadily went up even when im butt naked what gives!!!!!! My encumburance is 46 out of 96 when i have nothing on!!! Is there a way to solve this problem or is it the cost of making easy money and will it go down when you stop stealing? -Shritis

There is no divine retribution when it comes to stealing. Don't forget that you don't have to have something equipped for it to count against your encumbrance. If you are being weighed down by stuff your just carrying, get a wagon to keep the extra baggage. If you already have put stuff in your wagon or dropped it, it sounds like your being weighed down by the gold itself. Gold is heavy. Take it to a bank and exchange it for a weightless letter of credit.

7. I just have one question. What do gems do when equipped?

Nothing at all. The use of them is that they have high magic potential, which means that magic ones can be very powerful.

8. I am having a lot of trouble getting through Castle Necromoghan in order to get Mysernia's Letters. If there is an easy way through please help!

This quest takes place in a random dungeon in Daggerfall. Because of that, my only advice is that you should either keep searching Castle Necromoghan, or load a game before you accepted the quest and hope you get an easier dungeon. If you are a cowardly cheater, or just someone who can't be bothered with improbably huge dungeons, you can use the cheat mode as detailed in the 'patched.txt' file which comes with the latest patch.

9. Hi! I have been looking for RPG games to buy, and I believe that I've come across the one! You page is so informative, that I decided that you knew a lot about this game, and I wanted to ask you some questions. Is this game a Multi-Player connect game? Is it difficult to get started? Is there a possibility to sleep or ride a horse? Sorry about all these questions! A few more, though! Have you seen The Realm? Is it better than that(if you have) Also, is there any female owners of characters? I didn't see any at your page so far(didn't look at all of them , though) Well, (whew, right?) If you could answer these questions, I'd be truly grateful!

I think that every Daggerfall player in the world wishes that Daggerfall was multiplayer capable. That's why the next Elder Scrolls game by Bethesda will be. Daggerfall will take a day or two to get started but it's really easy to get into it once you are familiar with the controls. Yes you can sleep and ride a horse. I haven't seen the Realm so I can't compare, but I believe that Daggerfall is the best role-playing game out there. While the RPG world is mostly male, there are many female Daggerfall players, and the ability to choose the sex of your character is one of the most important aspects of the game.

10. I actually have a question about a guild. How do you keep from getting kicked out of the dark brotherhood. If I wait more than a day after I do a quest: the Brotherhood tells me I have not made the right connections and tosses me. What are the right connections?

It sounds like they just don't like you. You must keep doing quests for them. After a while, they'll let you stay.

11. How do you join the Blades?

Many people want to know that, but I'm afraid it's not possible.

12. Cool Daggerfall Page!!! Please answer question on the plot. When someone gives you at the beginning of the game at the city of Daggerfal a letter from Brisienna, Lady Magnessen who is the emperor's agent in the court of daggerfall where do you find her?I couldn't locate the Crimson Pit or the Queen's Pit Pub in Daggerfall. Are these in the city or in the general area of the kingdom of Daggerfall? Please I am trying to find her for a week. I would most appreciate it if you answered me.

One will be a place in the general region. The other will be an inn in the town.

13. I was approached by the thieves guild. They asked me to steal something and I did. I have not received word back from them on the matter and it has been longer than the time aloted to steal the item. How can I find the theives guild or get them to get back with me so I can join? Do you have any help that might help me?

I don't know if it is possible for them to contact you again, so I recommend that you load a game from when you did still have time and read the letter again. I think they tell you a place to bring it to. It's been a while since I joined the Thieves Guild so I can't help you much more than that.

Correction- I have since joined the Thieves Guild again. When you steal the object, it has a note tucked into it. The note will list two names. One will be the name of a town, the other will be the name of your contact in the town.

14. Where can I get Hircine's Ring?

Hircine's Ring is given to you by the Daedra Prince, Hircine. So far I have only found two ways to summon him. The more common way is to find the Glenmorial Coven in Illesan Hills. The Glenmorial witches are supposedly the only people who dare to summon Hircine. The Mages Guild, temples and other witches are too afraid. The only problem is that Illesan Hills has something like 50 dungeons, so finding a map to the coven can take weeks in real time. The other way is through a quest given to you by a knightly order. Sometimes, when you ask for a quest, the quest giver will tell you that an ancient artifact has been found by a certain witch. He will give a the location of the dungeon where the witch can be found. When you find the witch, she will ask you to perform a quest for her and after you complete it, she will give you the location of the artifact. This witch though is as other witches. She will summon a Daedra for you provided you have the money (200,000 gold). The Daedra happens to be Hircine.

15. I trying to become a Werewolf but when I'm infected I become a wereboar. I've tried to get it from both species and I only become a boar, do you have to be at a high level to become one?

There is a bug in the game that makes it so you can only be a wereboar. Download the latest patch to fix it.

16. I have the Daggerfall Chronicles. It talks about Daedra summoning and how witch covens can summon them. I can't seem to find a way to get to the witch covens. Please share with me some of your great knowledge!! I would also like to know if there is a particular knightly order that would be more profitable (not in money terms) than some of the others?

The covens count as dungeons, so you need a map to find one. All the knightly orders are almost exactly the same. Just keep in mind where you want to spend most of your time. It would be better to choose one that's in the region where you'd like your house because they give you a free one when you attain the rank of 'paladin.'

17. I have got the top door of the pyramid open and I can take the elevator down to a room. I pull the switch in the room but nothing happens. There is a trap door there, but I can't get it open. Any help would be appreciated.

This question seems to be on the second section of the Mantellan Crux. You've obviously worked out that when you click on the white tombstone, it gives you the name "Benefactor," and that it's the password to get into the pyramid. The white tombstone is not the only important one. You must click on all of them. They each open various trap doors and blue bars. After you have clicked on all of them, the way is clear to go inside the island with the tombstones. In there is a lever which opens the last trap door. The lever that you pulled inside the pyramid will now clearly be the operator for the elevator under the trap door.

18. Hi, I'm stuck in the Castle faallem quest, about finding evidence of Prince Slactum was not abducted by the underking. I think I've been through the all dungeon, and I found nothing. What do I have to find ? Is there a bug ? Thanks (Great site by the way !!)

I have tried numerous times, but I have never been able to find anything in Castle Faalem. There may be a bug, but I think it's just a hard dungeon. You're looking for a death certificate (it looks like a parchment). If you have a saved game before accepting the quest, load it. The choice of dungeon is random between two possibilities. I forgot the name of the other one, but I've always been able to do that one pretty easily.

Note: I don't recommend it, but I have to mention it. If you use cheat mode with the patch, you can use the '[' and ']' keys to jump from quest location to quest location within a dungeon. If it's there, you will find it, but it's less fun.
