The RPG, once denounced as "too evil," is back on track
A couple months ago, Atlus had canceled their innovative RPG Devil Summoner for English language release. Due to concerns over questionable content, which included a Christ-like monster crucified on a cross, Atlus believed that releasing it in the United States would be more trouble than it was worth.
Loud cries and protests against this move shook the Internet, as fervent RPG fans took a stand against Atlus' self-censorship. Numerous petitions and calls reached Atlus' ears, and it's listened.
According to Peter Stern, a product manager over at Atlus, "We're still working on it [Devil Summoner]. If we cancel it, we'll tell everyone in a press conference. We're still working on it."
Devil Summoner's release date is tentatively scheduled for February, but significant work still needs to be done.
