![]() Once a lively and cheerful place frequented by soldiers of the Army of Angmar and their allies, the pub that you have entered is now just a shattered remnant of the past. A long wooden bar stretches from one end of the back of the room to the other, but its once lovingly polished timbers are now blackened and burnt, with scars from sword and axe blows marring its surface. Hanging above the bar are a number of colourful plaques that you can examine if you wish. You can look at the first plaque, the second plaque, the third plaque, the fourth plaque, the fifth plaque, the sixth plaque, the seventh plaque, or the eighth plaque. You can also make out some carvings scratched into the bar by idle hands. These carvings seem to be the lyrics to a number of different chants and songs that the soldiers of the Army used to sing. If you are interested, you can read the lyrics. If you have the inclination, you can carve a song into the bar top yourself, although you cannot tell whether the dust would blow over your contribution, hiding it forever. Behind this bar once stood the tall, brutish bar-tender of the Army, an uruk remembered both for his love for rumours and gossip and for the stout club that he used to use on the heads of those soldiers who got too rowdy. On more than one occasion members of the Army had entered the pub to find the corpse of an elven or hobbit ranger who had snuck past the guards at the entrance, only to meet their match at the hands of the uruk bar-tender. The interior of this room is littered with broken glass and smashed casks and barrels - apparently nothing has survived intact from the days when this bar used to be the focal point for bands of evil adventurers wandering through the Misty Mountains or journeying through the other realms of Genesis. A looted cupboard against the back wall once held the various bottles that made this bar famous - this pub was the very first pub in Genesis to allow its visitors to purchase bottles that could be filled with a mix of spirits. Alas, any such bottles have long been smashed beyond recognition or stolen. When you grow bored of this empty and ruined pub with its ghostly sounds you can head west to the corridor, to the main rooms of the fortress stronghold. Alternatively, if you know where you wish to head within the halls, you may consult your site map to take you straight there. |
