Tactics and Tips for fighting Rangers.

Soldiers of the Army who carry the fight to the cowardly rangers of Middle Earth or who are ambushed by these sneaky foes should take care. It appears that the special attacks of the rangers have been modified, making them more powerful enemies. The following battle tips, taken from experienced soldiers and ranger killers, should enable you to counter the modified abilities of the rangers.

In the recent past, the special attacks of multiple ranger opponents have not been cumulative - once you were blinded by a ranger, you would be unable to see for a period of time, and further blinding had little effect - after all, you were already blinded.

This no longer appears to be the case - if you are fighting multiple opponents, their brawls are cumulative, so that you remain blinded long after you have crushed your foes. When a soldier in the Army was attacked by a group of fourteen rangers, the soldier remained blinded for almost eight minutes after the last ranger had been killed. Remember, if you are ineffective at fighting while blinded, move to a safe location until you can see again, and then resume your attack.

For those soldiers who rely on the club as their primary weapon, beware - if you drop your weapon you will be unable to pick it up while blinded, and your foes can easily steal your fallen weapon from you. Furthermore, if you are in a team, you will be unable to follow your leader if you are blinded, so if your party is forced to retreat you may be left behind. If your party is pursuing fleeing rangers, again you will be unable to follow while blinded.

When fighting in a team, if one of your team mates is blinded, remember that they will be unable to see what happens during the fight, and will not know things like the fact that more foes have arrived. To allow your party to fight more effectively, remember to use the Angmarim battle language to keep your blinded comrades aware of what is happening.

As well as blinding you in combat, rangers can attempt to knock the weapon you are wielding out of your hand. The effectiveness of the ranger's disarming brawl seems to depend on the weight of the weapon that you are wielding - a heavy weapon will be more easily disarmed than a lighter weapon. This is an important point to keep in mind if you know that you are likely to come across rangers in your travel.

Occupational soldiers should remember that their shield bash can be an effective weapon against rangers, as rangers are unable to brawl a shield out of the hands of an Angmarim soldier. As well, soldiers who are trained in unarmed combat should remember to enable their unarmed combat when they are disarmed, and to disable it once they have rewielded their weapons.

Follow these tips and your fight against the rangers will be much more effective.
