Software Price Drop
June 22

It seems that the rumors circulating around the net about a software price drop have been true. The price of first-party cartridges will drop $10. Also selected third party games will be $10 less as well. While this may not seem as a huge drop in the cost of already over-priced carts. It is however a nice step foward. This pricing is in effect for all titles released after June 23.




Super Mario RPG 64
June 22

At a press conference at E3 Shigeru Miyamoto spoke about the game industry and new games to follow. He also mentioned that there are 20 people working on the new Super Mario RPG 64. This finally confirms that in fact Super Mario RPG 64 will be coming out on the Nintendo 64. Of course the game will most likely be arriving on the 64DD.




Tonic Trouble expanding to 64DD.

Tonic Trouble formally called ED will be arriving as a cartridge game and then will have a 64DD disk coming Later. This interesting game made by UbiSoft seems to also include a multiplayer option. It seems that now Multiplayer is the trend that most of the announced N64 games will be.




Hudson's New game
June 22

It seems that Hudson has another game in the works for the Nintendo 64. This game entitled Legion X involves two robots attempting to kill eachother in a maze. Hudson seems to have joined the Rumble Pack trends as this game too will be compatible with this new device.




Nuby's New Products
June 22

Nuby maker of many peripherals for the Nintendo 64 and other systems has announced new products for the Nintendo 64. Among those products include the Master Drive Pro, a steering wheel that will work for NIntendo 64 as well as the Playstation and Saturn. The master drive pro will also have the controller port underneath for maximum rumbling effect. Also configurable controller called the Rock Master, a dual analog joystick named Twin Commander, a cordless controller called the Xwire, and a Light Gun. The light gun would suggest that a shooting game is on the horizon for the N64, and hopefully it will be a good one.




Rare's New Games Revealed

Besides the long awaited Banjo-Kazooie, Rare has announced another game that has been in the works, Conker's Quest. Conker's Quest is about a squirrel named Conker (obviously) and his sidekick Berri. These two characters are independent of each and it is hard to say how the control of the characters will be established. This game from screenshots looks quite cartoony and will appeal to a younger crowd but many older people will enjoy as well.




Banjo-Kazooie show its face
June 21

The codenamed Dream and shrouded in mystery has finally seen the light of day at E3. Banjo-kazooie is a game about a bear named Banjo and a bird named Kazooie. The object of the game is to lead Banjo and Kazooie through an immense world in search of Banjo's Girlfriend. Along the way they have to collect magical puzzle pieces that Banjo's Girlfriend left behind as a trail. These puzzle pieces also give Banjo and Kazooie special abilities. This title seems to be shaping up into a interesting game.




TombRaider 64

Yes the myth of that Tombraider 64 will be arriving on the Nintendo 64 has become a reality. Tombraider the blockbuster that hit multiple formats last year was heralded as one of the best games. Tombraider 64 seems to be coming out as a entirely new game and not a port of Tombraider or the upcoming Tomraider 2. More information to follow as it is known.




Paradigm Announces new titles
June 21

Paradigm makers of the Pilotwings series stated that they will in fact be making another Pilotwings game most likely called Pilotwings 2. Also the said that they will be creating a racing game as well as another flight game called Flights of the UN. As of now there is little else known of these games. The games should be arriving in 1998 around the time of the 64DD launch. Most likely one or more of these games will be 64DD titles.



Modem Confirmed
June 21

Finally what the rumor of a 64DD has finally been confirmed at E3. While it is not certain whether the modem will come with the 64DD, it is however certain that their will be a modem in the near future. This will give Nintendo a upper hand over the Playstation and Saturn who do not have this option.




Konami's Secret 7th Game Revealed
June 21

The game Konami's has been keeping secret all this time has finally be announced and no it is not Metal Gear Solid, it is called Hibrid Heaven. This game will be a Nintendo 64 exclusive and is classified as a RPG, but contains lots of fighting and action features. This game could be the game of 1998.

No it is not a what you get when you mix a banjo and a kazoo together, it is instead the new name for Rare's upcoming game. Originally known as Dream, Nintendo and Rare decided to change the name to this less then creative name. The name is derived from the lead characters of the game, Banjo and his SideKick kazooie. This name does detract from the mystery and intrigue of the game, and many including myself dislike this new name.




64DD Priced around $90

It seems that Nintendo has finally priced the 64DD. The 64DD will retail in Japan for 10,000 Yen. Which is equivalent to about $90 US Dollars. Hopefully the price will hold over at the US release as well and maybe even cheaper here. This price will hold up to Nintendo's promise of retailing the 64DD for substantially less then the N64 unit.

64DD Delayed
June 10

Nintendo has announced that it will be delaying is highly awaited upcoming periferal the 64DD. The 64DD was originally intended to be released in December in Japan and shortly after in the US, has been delayed until about March of 1998. Nintendo stated that this delay was because of hardware manufacturing, but it seems to me the reason has more to do with software not being completed. This delay will almost inevitably delay the release of the Disk Drive in the US.




War Gods Shipped.
May 22

Midway's newest game War Gods has been shipped today. The game will appear on both Nintendo 64 and Playstation. The game should be arriving in stores in the next few days.




Memory Card Compatible with Rumble Pack
May 22

It seems that finally the mystery of the rumble pack is finally known. After all the speculation and complaints, it has been confirmed that the memory pack can be used with the rumble pack. For this to happen you must detach the rumble pack and insert the memory at save places. However this can only be done when nothing is occuring on screen, which will most likey mean while pausing the game. This news is a relief to all the concerns about not being able to save with the rumble pack. Hopefully now many more games will be rumble pack compatible.




SingleTrac New member of N64 development team.

The makers of Twisted Metal, Jet Modo, and many other 3-D titles, has signed on as one of Nintendo's newest software developers. SingleTrac has been a Sony only developer, and this new cause as a giant blow to Sony's massive empire. While it is not certain exactly what games SingleTrac will be developing, whatever they are they will be 3D and very destructive, as in the nature of SingleTrac's previous games. More news will follow as soon as it is known.
