On July 4th, 2276, Mr. Ronald Reagan XVI founded the Reagan Society. The society formed for the purpose of restoring the American Nation as the preeminent power in not only global but interplanetary affairs. The first years of existence the society members were seen as a small group of crackpots who would never amount to anything. Starting in the year 2284, the society started to appeal to more of the population. Since the start of the Kafer War, the society has been swamped with new members. The major reason for this is directly attributed to the reports coming from the front.
With the inactivity of the French forces and the actions of the American forces, more people are coming to believe in the aims of the society. During the last few years, the society members have been instrumental in helping the resurgence of the American Military Forces. At the current time, fully 53% of the senate and 61.3% of the house either are society members or support the goals of the society.
The biggest success story to date is the resurgence of the Tiranian colony. Fully 90% of all new colonists are society members. The number of new colonists has reversed the population drain and started the colony back toward being self-sufficient. The Reagan Society has established one of the most modern and efficient space ship building yards in orbit around Tirane. The society is headquartered in Reston, Virginia, and its main off-world branch is located in Free Haven, Tirania.
The current president of the Society is Ronald Reagan XVII, the son of the founder. Mr. Reagan has been involved with the society since its inception in 2276. He served as the original head of the Tirania colonization board and moved to Free Haven in 2280 as an example to the other Society members. He was the main force behind the building of the RRS Shipyards in orbit around the planet Tirane. He also spearheaded the industrialization of Free Haven to support the shipyard. The turnaround of population in Tirania can almost certainly be directly attributed to his efforts. In 2293, the Society funded an orbital catapult for the use of the Shipyards. This was completed in the year 2297. Currently the RRS Shipyard is the largest in the Tirane system, and rivals the largest ones in Earth's solar system. It is capable of working on four battleship-sized vessels at once.
In conjunction with the Ship Yards, the RRS also started two academies
for the American Space Navy. These academies helped train the new
officers and petty officers that the Space Navy needed to man the ships
that were being built. Both of these academies are located in Free
Haven. The Officer Academy runs a 4 year course that awards the graduate
with a degree in either engineering or electronics. The American
Space Navy concurrently awards a commission as a reserve Ensign.
This commission obligates the recipient to either 4 years of active service
or 8 years of reserve service. If the officer is accepted for an
active tour of duty, then at the end of the tour, the commission can be
changed to a regular Space Navy Commission. To accomplish this task
takes the recommendation of the individuals last two commanding officers.
The Petty Officer School is two years long, and awards a technical degree
in engineering, electronics or stellar navigation. This allows the
individual to enlist in the American Space Navy with a grade of Petty Officer
3rd Class.
