Alone
I see others all around me,
Their groups, cliques, friends,
And I long to get in.
I see who they are and what they do
And I seek escape from their false truths.
I am uneasy in a crowd
Yet I do not seek seclusion.
I long for silence
Yet I gladly break it with talk.
I have no wish to fit in
Though I seek a pack to belong.
I am a child of civilization
Thought in my heart, I am a beast of the wild.
I crave direction even as I defy authority.
I am secluded in a world of billions of people.
I am part of everything.
I belong to nothing.
I am alone.
