Blayze is a scion of Trading House Inika, a young second cousin of Ranis
Inika. Her aunt Ranis had started her career as a trading agent of House Inika, but through her shrewd skills and bardic luck (having saved the life of House Matriarch Andiama Inika during an assasination attempt), Ranis was adopted into the House and rose to become one of most influential in the management of the family business.
After her illustrious cousin rose to be one of the central powers of House Inika, Blayze's mother Lyrian, a human fighter/psi and a minor House Inika agent, was relocated to the family Headquarters in Gulg from North Ledopolus. There, Lyrian was trained to manage the typical Inika -style small kank or kank/inix caravans, eventually running the treacherous, but profitable Gulg - North Ledopolis route for many, many years. Donaz, an elf ranger/fire cleric, was the head scout for Lyrian's caravans. His tribe has served House Inika as caravan scouts for generations. The two met in Gulg and formed a lasting partnership in both love and careers. Blayze was born in Gulg, but spent much of her early life inix-back with her parents on the caravan trail. Blayze showed early signs of becoming a strong earth druid/psi and received training in Gulg, where she had the run of the family mansion. However at the age of 12, when it was time for her spirit walk in the forest around Gulg, she had a peculiar vision and the result was that the Genemak, a large forest-lion, became her totem. More disturbing to her family, neighbors and worst of all... the city officials... was that she began to show signs of the ability to perform magic... a frightening skill to those who lived in a city that depended the forest for it's very existence. Finally, House Inika was forced to send her away according to the laws of the city... never to return to Gulg until she could prove herself to be a preserver, and not a vile defiler. She was sent to Tyr... where even in Gulg it was whispered that preservers could be found who could be persuaded to teach the young... In Tyr, during her apprenticeship, she crossed the paths of other preservers and their allies... and eventually joined the ranks of those dedicated to bringing back the green forests of Gulg to the dry wastes and sands... Someday, however, her apprenticeship will be over and her family will expect her to take up duties in House Inika... she will return to Gulg to be tested and to perhaps survive. Once again perhaps she might see her mother... for Lyrian has the ephemeral life-span of a human, and grows old... |
