William is currently in the care of the wonderful staff in the NICU at St. Joseph's Hospital in London Ontario. William was born at 29 weeks gestation. Unfortunately, William will have to remain in hospital until he is big enough, and healthy enough to come home.

As you can see. With each passing day, William is getting better. Today (Monday, September 27, 2004) they removed the two large sensor pads from his chest. He now has a small heart shaped temperature sensor on his belly. In these two pictures, you can see the small velcro disc that was holding the eye shield during his light treatment for Jaundice. In the upper left photo, you can see the sensors stuck to his tiny chest, while in the right photo, taken only a day later we see that they have removed them.
Thursday September 30th. William is now 1 week old. Here he looks rather relaxed don't you think? They have now removed the tube from his belly button, and he has been feed some real food. They started him on 1ml of milk every six hours. He is now up too 2ml of milk every six hours. William was weighed while we were there tonight. He's drop a few grams, and currently weighs about 695g. Below are some pictures from our visit with him tonight.

Hanging on to Mommy All Tuckered out
Today was a good day. After finding out yesterday that William is off of the
ventilator, and they are feeding him 2ml of milk every 2 hours now, I don't
think anything could've been better. He does however have a mask on in
some of the photos, but it is just supplying a constant stream of air, again to
help keep his lungs inflated. He does all his breathing on his own.
Today was also the first time i heard him cry. I've seen him cry before,
but today I actually got to hear him. Other than that, it was a pretty
peaceful visit. Our next visit is on Tuesday. Enjoy the pictures and
look for an update then.
