It will be a sit-in model with four-gear shifting control
to the right, gas, brake, and clutch pedals on the floor, and
comfortable grip steering wheel in front. The chair should be
adjustable in distance and have a comfortable posture for it's
plastic molding. Stereo sound system with a Bass speaker attached
to the backing of the seat would be nice, and full experience
movement in the seat and/or steering wheel will help to enhance
the simulation. I also believe the installation of an actual
AM/FM radio controlled by the game controls would make a nice
addition. Of course, the player could select normal game music or
sound effects alone as an alternative at the beginning of the
game. The screen should be large and feel like looking out of the
front of an actual automobile's windshield.
The econo cabinet on the other hand should have the
steering wheel placed at average height with gas, brake, and
clutch controls on the floor with a four-gear stick shift lever
on the right side with an adequate screen and only take up as
much space as any other arcade cabinet. No radio, just game music
and sound effects.
GAME INTERACTION: Steering and other controls must feel
as real as possible. Sound should be clear and have adjustable
volume (adjustable by owner of machine). Program should start out
with a choice screen for amount of money player starts out with,
type of vehicle to purchase (setting should have a work garage or
car sales lot backdrop), what kind of parts to buy (setting
should have a backdrop of an auto parts store), and then the
Radio/Music/Sound Effects Alone screen (backdrop of a car
dashboard and radio with a night city scene through the
windshield).
MACHINE LINK-UP: The hardware and program should be
equipped to link a second "Night Drag" for dual-player
head-to-head action. Appropriate programs designed to allow this
kind of juncture should accompany with the machine's ROM.
