This page has pics of my sculpting experiments. These are ordered newest to oldest so that no one has to wade thru the old ones unless they want to.

'Turtle man'. I had just gotten a new tool (it has a flat edge and a pointy 3 sided hook end) and was playing with greenstuff. I had made a face that looked like a cartoon turtle. One of my friends, Alan, encouraged me to add the tongue. I was playing with a tiny broken off pipe and made the funny staff with the circle patterns. The rest of that mix of greenstuff became his shell. The second mix of putty (GW blue-white epoxy) was used after the first was set. I made his arms, legs, and the back of his head. I ended up adding the bracelet but I learned an important lesson: armatures are first 'bulked out' and the bulk layer let to set so you don't get wires and such sticking out of your fig. I had a hard time keeping the hand holding the staff small. The putty join between the front and back of his head was rough. I'm learning. He's roughly 25mm tall, and is standing on a 1 inch diameter base. 2002

The kobold sorceror. Kobolds in D&D are lizard people about 2 to 3 feet tall. The player's description was "She's an albino kobold sorceror in a fancy robe and wearing a hat with a wide floppy brim." I used a (poorly) made wire armature and GW blue-white ribbon epoxy. I used three or four different mixes of putty, letting each one dry before starting the next. I don't have a pic of this one unpainted. I used some ball burnishers, a sharp pointy tool, and a dull exacto blade. The hands came out much better than I expected. I tried to shape the robe to imply the way their legs look; they walk on the balls of their feet like velociraptors. She is roughly 15mm tall. 2002

Basing experiment. The landscape, log, and critter were made from sculpty. I used a pointy tool and some ball burnishers. My favorite part is the little beast peeking out. The unfinished banner was an experiment; it is made from wire and a Crest toothpaste tube. The plastic base is 40mm. 2001

My first attempt was long ago... It was a bald gnome made out of sculpty, shaped with a wooden toothpick. His head was bigger than the rest of him. If I ever find him I'll have to add a pic. He had very nice ears. :) 1999?
