These are 15mm figures, roughly about half the height of most of the figures I paint. To give you a sense of size, the base of each is a penny ($0.01US). They are from Hobby Products Empires line. The package was labeled "Avandril Bellir". 2002

The first one I painted had a more delicate face, so I decided to enhance the 'female'ness by making the chest decorations a light color so that the top looked larger. The unicorn is freehand. I like the figure's pose.

The second one (there were two in the pack) also had a nice open cape to experiment with, so I decided to give him a galaxy. I did some experimenting with him: the white cloth is shadowed with a pale natural green, and the green pants and sleeves are shadowed with small amounts of purple.

People have asked about the field-of-flowers pattern on the inside of the cape, so here's how I painted it. First, a solid background of a dark grassy green (the cape trim color). Draw lots of short thin stripes going in the same direction in a lighter green (the base color for the dress). I liked using a different hue of green, I think it make it stand out more. Using pink, hot pink, and orange, make lots of dots. I kept the bigger dots toward the bottom. I mixed each of the three colors with white, then dotted on top of some of the existing 'flowers', deliberately avoiding ones that would be in shadow. Then I used white to touch the flowers that would be highlighted.
