There are several tricks that one can use to quickly raise Honor in Wages of War. Not that tricking the game to raise Honor is the most honorable thing to do.
This trick can be used with almost any NPC that you can converse with, in the game. Simply greet the character over and over, and watch you Communication skill (and to some extent Honor) rise. However, two situations, are particularly amenable to employ this trick with, due to the coincident on-screen location of your character and the "Greet" option on the talk menu, which eliminate the need to move the cursor at all. Hence you can even hold the ENTER key down (using a paper weight or such) to perform the greet action repeatedly.
These two situations are (you will need to experiment a little with the exact cursor position that works):
Caused due to a bug in the game, this cheat allows you to buy stuff from the merchants in the Mid-Level Tarnan Bazaar (first screen of bazaar) for 1 Royal or 1 Common each, depending on the original price of the item. Thus this works for purchases made from the Junk Dealers, the Weapon Seller, the Honey Seller and the Oil Merchant.
Basically the cheat works because the game neglects to disable the Bargain button the second time around, on this screen of the bazaar only, thereby allowing you to bargain over and over, bringing the price down eventually to 1. It is recommended that you have a reasonable level of Communication skill (at least 150) in order to reduce the number of repetitions needed to bargain down to 1. Then
Although regaining stamina is easy enough in this episode with the liberal use of Pool of Peace water (carried in waterskins), this cheat lets you regain stamina while in combat, without taking any damage.
During combat, click over an unused portion of the attack panel (for instance, the two triangular regions adjacent to the sword in the Fighter's panel) to turn on the "invincibility" mode. Subsequent monster attacks will be duds while you slowly regain stamina. If your stamina doesn't rise, hold down the left mouse button or the ENTER key while the cursor is in this unused portion. Only when you click again on one of the combat / spellcasting icons on the panel will this "invincibility" mode turn off making you prone to damage from monster attacks. This can be done as many times as you like during combat. Note, however, that health or mana points are not replenished.
When you turn off this "invincibility" mode, it is possible to accidently hit the Run Away icon and exit the combat. Don't let this bother you - simply go back into combat and kick the monster's butt!
This cheat can also serve to pause action while in combat.
Not really a cheat, this is a quick and sneaky way to easily raise your Hero's Strength and Throwing skill.
The longer you practice, the more improvement you will see in your Throwing skill and your overall Strength. You can use daggers instead of rocks also, but they are harder to replace if lost.
