Where do I exchange my money from Shapeir?
- Once you exit from Kreesha's house, walk
down the stairs to the lower plateau off to the west.
- This takes you to the Middle Bazaar. Exit
northwest from this area and you will enter the
North end of the Bazaar.
- Here you can find the Money Changer of Tarna.
How do I earn a living?
- You'll have some money from Shapeir. Exchange these at the Money Changer's
in the north end of the Bazaar. This will help
you get started.
- You are Rakeesh and Kreesha's guest while in Tarna; so room and meals at the
Welcome Inn are free. A guest hut
will be provided at the Simbani village as well.
- To buy things from the merchants in the bazaar, or pills
from the Apothecary, you will need money though.
- Bargaining with the merchants will enable you to buy at lower prices and
make your dough last longer.
- Sometimes if you give people something they need, they may be willing to
give you their wares for free, in return.
- A few monsters around Tarna carry some cash with them. These include Crocs,
Leopardmen, and Apemen. This is your main source for replenishing your funds.
- If you're near the city of Tarna, the Crocs hang around the river.
- Leopardmen and Apemen carry more cash, but they are found only in the jungle
and are much harder to defeat.
A thief has other
options, but mostly these are too dangerous or not worth it. He can try to sneak
some coins from the drummer's bowl in the bazaar, but he won't get a lot that way.
While burgling the Laibon's hut and the
Leopardmen Leader's hut though, he can
find some treasure.
Where can I sleep at night?
- In Tarna, sleep in your room at the Welcome
Inn.
- In the Simbani Village, there's a
guest hut that you can use.
- Besides that, in the savanna or the
jungle, you can sleep just about anywhere.
- However, it's a good idea to set up camp and light a fire; otherwise you
will at the mercy of the night creatures. To do this, click on the REST
icon from the special icons bar while the overhead map is up. When prompted,
answer yes to making a fire. Then use your tinderbox.
- The Pool of Peace, south of the Simbani Village, and the Heart of the World in the Giant
Tree are two excellent places for undisturbed and refreshing slumber. At the latter
of these two, you can replenish your health, stamina and mana, even with an hour's rest.
How do I talk to people?
- Click the TALK icon on your character
and others. This will bring up a list of things to talk about.
- Select what you want and hold the conversation of your choice.
- Asking a question may often reveal new avenues of questioning.
- Talk to everyone you met frequently as things happen in the game.
Tell them about things you've learnt as well.
Tell me something about the game plot and my mission.
- Watch the introduction sequence and listen carefully to what Aziza and
Kreesha tell you.
- Demons are loose in this land, and seek revenge upon Rakeesh. Talk with
Rakeesh about his previous experiences with demons.
- By talking with many people in Tarna, you will learn that a peace mission
was ambushed and destroyed. Rakeesh's daughter is now missing. The Simbani
villagers want to declare war upon the Leopardmen. The Leopardmen are attacking
everyone who enters the jungle.
- A Demon Wizard is behind the scenes, manipulating everyone in order to start
a huge war and avenge himself upon Rakeesh. Once the war is started, the death
energy released will allow the armies of Demons to cross into this world, and
destroy all living creatures.
- Your mission is to bring peace to this land and force the Demon Wizard back
to his own world.
How do I find my way around Tarna?
- Tarna is divided into two sections. The eastern section, inhabited
by Liontaurs, does not permit entry of humans; so you will not be able
to enter there. The western section is where the game action takes place.
- There are three plateaus that make up the western section.
- You start out on the Middle Plateau. Here you can enter the Apothecary, the Welcome
Inn, or Kreesha's House. If you exit
right past Kreesha's house you will arrive at the gates
of Tarna.
- The stairs up from here will take you to the Upper Plateau. The Upper
Plateau has entrances to the Hall of Judgement
and the King's Chambers. You will need an
invitation to enter these two areas.
- From the Upper Plateau, the stairs up on the right lead to the Temple of Sekhmet, and the stairs down lead
back to the gates of Tarna.
- The stairs down from the Middle Plateau will take you to the bazaar on the Lower Plateau. The Lower Plateau has
four sections of bazaar and the boat docks. You have no need to go to
the boat docks.
What do I do in and around Tarna when I first arrive
here?
- Talking to everyone you meet and asking questions will give you a
feel for what is going on in Tarna.
- You can always go mongering for rumors.
- Buy things at the bazaar (exchange your
Shapeirian dinars at the money changer's
first).
- Chat at the Apothecary.
- Re-visit Kreesha and Rakeesh.
- Flirt with the Welcome Woman (to do so,

you busy.

peace conference.
Ask Kreesha
about magic whenever you can. Kreesha will send you on a quest for magic wood.
Return here when you have it.
Where can I find the Magical Wood?
- Seek it after you visit the Simbani. Travel east to where you can see
a lot of wood.
- Visit the most impressive tree in the jungle.
- Talk to someone who lives in the Giant Tree
near the upper waterfall (Guardian's Hole).
Tell it about your mission.
- Now explore the jungle to find the flower of which the Guardian spoke.
- Use a spell to retrieve the flower.
- Take it to the Pool of Peace south of the
Simbani Village and wait until dark.
- Dip the flower in the water while the moon shines.
- Return to the Giant Tree and climb to the top of
the highest waterfall.
- Enter the Heart of the World and place the
flower on the spiral platform.
- Return with the wood to Kreesha's house.

Talk to Salim about them and buy them as needed. You can also buy a
Dispel potion here.
- Talk to Salim thoroughly and you will learn about seeking a bird and
ingredients for the Dispel Potion.
- If you need more healing pills than he has you will have to help him
obtain ingredients. You'll need to be sweet if you want to get the
feather.
- If you want to buy a dispel potion search the jungle and savanna
to get the things he needs.
- Salim is quite a character. If you ask him questions about his dreams,
you will be able to tell him some important information.
Where do I find a honeybird feather?
- Ask Salim about pills, healing, feather, and honeybird.
- Talk to merchant in the bazaar who
knows most about the honeybird.
- Buy the thing the honeybird likes most.

ground near it.
- Leave and return to pick up the feather.

Village.

first.

near the upper waterfall (Guardian's Hole).
Tell it about your mission.
- Climb up to the top of the upper waterfall and enter the hole there.
- At the Heart of the World, place your water
from the Pool of Peace on the spiral platform.
What can I do here?
- This is a place to learn some gossip, eat some good meals,
spend the night and store some unneeded equipment.
- Check the bulletin board on the entrance wall and read the
messages to learn some more information about Tarna.
- Click WALK on the stairs to go to
your room here.
- Click HAND on the empty pillow to
sit down and talk to the Welcome Woman.
- To order food, sit on the pillow and wait until the Welcome Woman
comes over. Then select "Order food" or
click your money pouch from your inventory on the Welcome Woman.
- Be sure to ask the survivor of the Peace Mission some questions
when you see him here.
- The following events occur here giving more information: first
entrance, entrance the evening after you return from the Simbani
Village (meeting the survivor), entrance three nights after you
talk to the survivor.
What can I do with Janna, the Welcome Woman?
- She is a good source of information and fun to flirt with.
- Ask Janna daily about menu, rumor, Janna, and Tarna.
- Flirt with her daily by clicking TALK
on your character and selecting "Flirt".
- On the other hand, if you want to be a goody-two shoes, flirting
with her may not be the wisest thing, considering that she is marries.
What can I do with the survivor of the peace mission?
- You will meet the survivor at the inn on the evening you first
return from the Simbani Village.
- Ask him thoroughly about the Peace Mission.

non-essential things. The game will not allow you to store anything which may
be critical later on.
Where is the Bazaar and what can I do there?
- The Bazaar is located on the lower plateau in the city of Tarna.
- Talk with all the merchants and buy the things you think you will
need. However, not everything they sell will be useful to your
character.
- Ask the merchants daily about themselves and about rumors.
- Read the following sections for specific things to do in specific
parts of the bazaar.
How do I buy things and bargain with the merchants
here?
- Once you have visited the Money Changer
and exchanged your money, you can purchase something you need from a
merchant by clicking TALK on your character
and selecting the "Buy" option, or by clicking
your money pouch from inventory on a merchant.
- If the merchant has something useful to sell you, a Purchase Window
will appear. Select the object, adjust the amount you wish to purchase,
and then click the Purchase button.
- If you want to make a deal and try to save some money, you can select
the Bargain button. This brings up the Bargain Window. Use the arrows on
the screen to adjust the amount you wish to offer, then push "Make offer". The merchant will either accept,
reject, or offer a counter amount.
- Try again until one of you loses patience or you come to an agreement.
- Once you both agree on a price, the Purchase Window will come back
up and you can again adjust the amount of objects you want.
- The most important part of bargaining is your character's Communication
Skill. Improve your skill by talking to everyone and telling them things
about yourself. Bargaining also helps improve your Communication.
As a thief, what should I do in the bazaars?
- Make the Thief Sign wherever it is practical (Click TALK on your character and select "Make Thief Sign" when you have that option).
- Most people around here will not know what you are doing, but there
are two characters in the bazaar who will look more favorably upon you
for making the sign.
- Thieves can always use throwing daggers and oil. Ropes are also
something no self-respecting Thief can do without.
- If you played "Quest for Glory II: Trial by Fire", you may recognize
something in the bazaar that you've seen several times before in the
other games of this series. Buying this object may be potentially useful,
particularly in future games.
- Someone in the bazaar will teach you a useful skill if you approach
him correctly and pay his price.
- Spare food can also be of use later in the game. You might want to
pick up several different types of food for different circumstances.
The bazaar is empty! What happened to the merchants?
- If you enter a bazaar area and the merchants are gone, check the
time of day (select the Hourglass from the Special Icon Bar).
- The merchants of the bazaar fold up their stands at evening.
- Just because all the merchants are gone does not mean there is
nothing to do in the bazaar at night. Later in the game, you might
make an important contact here.
What can I do with the Junk Dealers?

- Buy a tinderbox.

- You will not meet him until after you first return from the
Simbani Village.
- It isn't easy being "Honorless" in Tarna. Talk to the thief.
Ask him about help, Harami, and rumors.
- Since he is hungry, give him something to eat. You might
just make a friend.
- The next time you meet, tell him about your mission.
- The third time you meet him here, tell him about Rakeesh.
- Remember, though, these things are against the law of Tarna.
You will have to decide for yourself whether it is more important
to obey the law or to help someone in trouble.
- Helping Harami by giving him food is a good way to build up
honor.
What can I do with the Money Changer?

royals here
.
- You need to exchange your money before you can buy anything
in the bazaar.

What can I do with the Run-away Thief?
- You will encounter the thief when you first reach the north
end of the bazaar. It's up to you what happens with the thief.
- If you make a mistake here, restore your game using the Automatic
Save game feature and try reacting to the situation again.
- The honorable thing to do here is to try to stop the thief.
- Any character can try to stop him by running after him (select
RUN from the Special Action Icon Bar),
or knocking something over in front of him (click the HAND cursor on the obvious fruit basket).
A Magic
User can try to use spells to stop the running Thief.
You
can try to use your throwing daggers to stop him.
- Some of these solutions are more honorable than others.

- If you are running low on rations, you might like some dried
fish.

Use
the proper approach for your character and see what you can learn. Show
him the thief sign (Click TALK on your
character and select "Make Thief Sign").
You
can also learn from his talent. Ask Rashid about acrobatics.
He
can teach you some acrobatic moves if you are willing to
learn. Click TALK on your character
and "Buy Training".
What can I do with the Wood Carver?
- You have something in your inventory for this Katta character.
- Tell him things. Relate your adventures in Shapeir and the
Katta friends you made there.
- What he sells is not something you need right away, but
it will be appreciated by someone else later in the game.
- Buy a gift from him to make friends with someone.
What can I do with the Meat Merchant?
- The Meat Merchant will sell you dried meat which will be useful
if you get low on rations.

- Be generous. Give him some money by clicking your money
pouch on his tip bowl. This is a good way to increase honor.
On the
other hand, try to take some money by clicking HAND on his tip bowl.
How do I get inside?
- The Hall of Judgment is where all the laws and decisions
concerning Tarna are made.
- You will not be able to enter here unless summoned to do so. This
will happen several times during the game. Just say
"Yes".
- Remember to act honorably when addressing the council.
What do I do at the Peace Conference?
- Once you return the Spear of Death and the Magic Drum to their
rightful owners, you will be sent to Tarna for the peace conference.
- You can't do anything during the conference; just watch the
events unfold.
- It's a pity that despite all your hard work, the peace conference
does not go well and you get improperly rewarded for your efforts.
- You won't welcome in either Tarna or the Simbani Village any more.
- Head east until you meet a friend and follow him to his home.

jungle.
- Follow the path to the upper waterfall and past it to
the right to enter the Guardian's
hole.
- Ask it about the gem.
- Don't be greedy!
- Once you return to the temple of Sekhmet with the Gem of the Guardian,
the Weighing of Souls ceremony will occur here. Choose wisely.
- If you are honest, you will receive an important prophecy.
What can I do here?
- The City Gates are east of Kreesha's
House.
- Talking to the guards (both at day and night) will give you a
little perspective on the Liontaur view of the world.
- Here you can come and go freely into the Savanna
.
- The gates are always open, except in times of war.
- Once they are closed though, they will not open until you stop the
war at its source.
What all is there to explore in the Savanna?
- From the Savanna maps, you can visit Tarna,
the Pool of Peace, the Venomous Vine area and the Simbani
Village.
- You can only get to the pool and the village after game day three.
- You can find the honeybird if you are properly equipped.
- When you camp out at night make a campfire if you have the tinderbox.
The fire helps keep monsters away while you sleep. Be sure to douse the
fire in the morning though.
- The Pool of Peace is a safe place to spend the night without a fire.
How do I get the
fruit of the venomous vines?
- Find the vines by exploring the Savanna of Tarna Overlook Map
completely and checking out the piles of rocks to the southeast of Tarna.
- Be careful, they are nasty if you get too close.
- If they catch you, show them who has the bigger weapons and take
a poison cure pill afterwards.
For the fighter / paladin to get the fruit:
- Watch the Meerbats for a while, then exit the location.
- Re-enter and watch the Meerbats again.
- Help the small Meerbat (use healing potions or your
healing skills), then exit again.
- When you return once again, your reward will be on the rocks.
Use the
fetch spell on the large vine in the middle of the rocks to retrieve
the fruit.
Use your rope
and grapnel on the large vine in the middle of the rocks.
What can I do here?
- You can only get here after Rakeesh leads you to the
Simbani Village.
- Visit the lake to the south of the village.
- The Pool of Peace is a great place to rest after combatting
monsters. Nothing will bother you here.
- Use your waterskin on the pool to get some water. You will
require some of this water later in the game.
- Drink the pool's water anytime to regain your stamina. Stock up
additional waterskins filled with this water for instant stamina, in
lieu of those non-existent stamina pills in Tarna.
Cast a
Detect Magic spell here. You may see the sign left by the person who
created this place of peace.
When you
are in search for magical wood, dip the blue orchid in the water here
while the moon shines.

areas. Off screen to the left is the Spear

throwing and wrestling.
- When you are better at them than Uhura, talk to the
Laibon about Initiation.
- Once you have the item he requests, you will be competing with Yesufu
to see who makes the better Warrior.
- The first contest is running. Yesufu is the fastest runner in the
village and you don't stand much of a chance against him.
- At the end of the first race you arrive at the first puzzle.
- Watch Yesufu get the ring with his spear. You must get the ring with
fewer moves. Don't copy Yesufu. Try a variation on what he does, or use a
different skill.
- The second race ends at the Wall of Thorns. The method
Yesufu uses is slow. Try to use a faster way to get past the Thorns to
the ring.
- Don't take advantage of Yesufu's trapped leg during the race by
overtaking him and continuing on. Instead stop and help him.
- Once you arrive back at the village, you will compete at Spear Throwing and on the Wrestling Bridge. Even if your character
loses, you may still win if you behaved honorably during the contest.

useful background information. He appreciates it if you tell him a bit

Magic User triggers this event by learning the Magic Staff spell
from Kreesha.
The

and Paladins trigger this event by gaining enough skill at Spear

Apothecary on how to do this.
- Once you break the spell, you will find that many others are
now interested in the prisoner.
- Talk to the Laibon about buying a bride. Get the gifts from
the bazaar in Tarna.

some suggestions. Kreesha will be able to help you once you tell her
about what is going on.
- Give your bride three gifts from the bazaar - something pretty, a
work of art, and something that will show that you trust her.
- Give the leopard carving from the Katta, some beads, and a fine
dagger to the leopard woman.
- The three gifts for the prisoner may not seem to do any good at
first but you will be rewarded for them later.
- Don't worry if the prisoner escapes. If you have shown him enough
kindness, you will meet him again.

How do I get to the Leopardman Leader's hut?

- Attach it to another item (rope) you can buy in Tarna.
- Click the item where you want to go.
- Be careful of the hungry guardian that prowls there.
- If you feed the kitty, you shouldn't have any trouble.

the System Icon Window, and don't feed the leopard.
- Now try your skills, and your character's skills at dodging an

- Remember, you can only cast a given spell once during the
competition.
- Once you counter all of the Shaman's spells, he will become angry.
He will do something that will set his entire tribe against him.
- Once this happens, the contest is over. Your fight will begin in
earnest. Forget about the rules; this is life or death!
- Once the Shaman is possessed, you can use any spell against him.
However, before you go into close combat, you might want to use an
object from inventory first. It will save a lot of wear and tear on
your body. It's also the honorable thing to do.

Waterfall and defeat a Demon worm.
How do I enter the ruins of the Lost City?
- Manu will tell you some important information about getting into the
Lost City before he leaves.
- Look around and see what's missing.
If
you helped the Meerbat earlier in the game,
you will have an object you can use to open the magical door of the
ruins.
You
won't be able to use the Open spell here as the door is magical.
Think
of it as an eye for an eye. Look around for a suitable replacement part.
Use a spell
to get it down. Or go up to it.
Go and
get it.
- Use the opal on the eye of Anubis.
How do I get past the Demon guards?
What's
your job here? Get rid of the demon! Now, force open the door.

over the flame on the rope and avoid an early death).
- Use what you have after the burning problem against the guy who
made all this possible. In other words, throw the remaining of the
burning grapnel at the demon wizard.
