These cheats and tricks have been compiled from various sources. However, there are no guarantees that they will work. Please save your game before attempting the cheats (especially the built-in cheat mode) and use them at your own risk.
This cheat allows you to give your character a very high acrobatic skill at the beginning of the game. This works for any character class, not just the thief. You can use this cheat either with a new character or a saved character imported from a previous Quest for Glory game. Here are the steps:
It is recommended that you don't go higher than 400 points in Acrobatics. This is the maximum skill achievable in the game without cheating. Higher values than this are not needed and may cause glitches during gameplay or in importing to QFG5: Dragon Fire.
You can actually re-import a saved character from the end of Shadows of Darkness, back again into it and replay with the improved character from the beginning. All skills and abilities (including spells) are preserved, but skill levels above 300 are truncated down to 300, giving you an opportunity to build them back up to 400! Your equipment is not preserved though.
This trick is useful if you are trying to max out your character's skills and having difficulty building some of them fast enough through the game. You can sometimes even switch character classes to build a fully rounded character. For instance, play through QFG4 once as a Wizard to get all magic spells (including Summon Staff and Resistance), then re-import the same character as a Paladin and play through again getting all the Paladin abilities.
This works both with the disk version (with the import patch applied) and the CD version of the game.
Pick a few bunches of flowers from around the Mordavian forest. Visit the Rusalka at the lake southwest of town and befriend her by giving her some flowers. After this, give her some more flowers. She will say they are nice but won't accept any more. Keep clicking the flowers repeatedly on her and watch your Honor points soar. Note that this cheat may only work in the CD version of the game.
The Resistance spell is only available for casting when you have summoned Erana's Staff. But, since casting spells with a Magic Staff does not expend any mana nor improve skill with the spell, it would seem that it is impossible to increase your point skill with this spell.
However, a spell-casting shortcut inadvertently allows you to cast this spell without the Magic Staff thereby raising your Mage's proficiency in it with practice. Note that there is no practical benefit from doing this in Shadows of Darkness, and there may not be any in the next game either; this is simply for those perfectionists who are building up their characters to the fullest in every attribute.
Recall that double-clicking on the Magic icon causes your Hero to re-cast the last past spell bypassing the Spell screen altogether. Simply cast Summon Staff (once you have gained Erana's Staff), cast Resistance, then walk a little to dismiss the Staff. Now double-click on the Magic icon and viola! you have successfully cast Resistance without the aid of the Staff. Repeat double-clicking and watch your skill rise!
Any character with lockpicking skills can raise them easily using this cheat. However, before you can use this cheat, you must've found the Thieves' Guild in Mordavia and acquired the Acme Mark II Thieves' Toolkit.
