Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Released Despite the official release date of 23rd March, 2000, several arcades around the world already have the final version of Marvel vs. Capcom 2. Read Joey Cuellar's MvC2 Impressions, from Shoryuken.com, or read the Madman's Diary for more info. The method for unlocking hidden characters is different. Extracted from Joey Cuellar's MvC2 Impressions: "On the title screen there are two odometer-like meters, one for "Level" and one for "Experience." The Level meter is 2 digits long, but the Experience meter is 6 digits! For every 2 tokens put into the game, 2 experience points are added to the total. So a basic time release method, is how much money you pump in, is how fast the time release characters are released." Evidently Capcom are not making full use of the Dreamcast VMU's point system, which is supposed to unlock characters using your own experience points, not the machine's. See further down on this page for more hidden characters unlocked so far. Madman's Cafe has a description of the only boss, fought in the eighth battle. "The Last Bosse's name is Abyss (lord knows where the character is from.. Marvel?). It seems to have a Whopping 3 different levels until you can defeat it. Abyss has a hyper armor mode on at all times (can't be knocked into a damage motion at all at any time, so the boss can execute a move even if it's being attacked), it can't guard but some of its attacks can't be guarded, either." Talk on the newsgroup has confirmed Abyss is a Marvel character, and an obscure one at that. It's confirmed that there is only one ending, but personally, I speculate that proper character endings might have to be unlocked with experience.
Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Complete List
Madman's Cafe has posted an
unofficial listing of Naomi (arcade) fighters for MvsC2.
It hasn't been confirmed by Capcom, but it's probable.
That's an intriguing list. The first thing I noticed is that
the dreaded Shoto-clones are back, with Ken, Dan and Sakura
all making the hidden list. Other highlights are the return
of Felicia, Cammy, Spiral, Sentinel and others, and that all the
'Dreamcast exclusive' characters are on the hidden list.
All that means is that the DC will probably have those
characters as default, not hidden.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 First Hidden Characters According to Shoryuken.com, the first hidden character is Rogue, unlocked at 425 experience points. Unfortunately she's lost her coolest ability, the move-steal, instead she gains a power-up / speed-up / defence-up. The second revealed secret fighter is Tron Bonne, released at 1600. Infinity on alt.games.sf2 reports that his arcade's machine has Rogue, 'two gold boxes' and Sakura, who can morph into Evil Sakura. Not sure what those gold boxed do, I'll look into it.
Street Fighter Alpha 3 Dreamcast Update I'm not familiar with the Japanese version of SFA3, but evidently the American version will have internet capabilities. This is from a recent news release from Capcom USA, spotted on Negative Edge. "The Internet capability in Street Fighter Alpha 3 expands game play and offers gamers a new SF experience. Once the player has defeated three student-level characters, they advance to challenge the powerful master characters. Capcom currently plans to introduce two master characters per week, each based on a familiar character but with new skills and more powerful attacks." Read the full article here. | ![]() |
