Gouki's Page of Whatever returns Grand Archive welcomes Gouki's Page of Whatever back to the fray. In case you're new around here, GPOW was one of the greatest Street Fighter / Capcom sites before Gouki froze the site year. It's now reactivated under the management of DeSpider and Shadow Jin. The competition looks hot...
Marvel vs. Capcom 2: First Cheat Here's the first Marvel vs. Capcom 2 cheat, which allows you to choose which of your fighters you begin the match with. Sent to the newsgroup by Turtle. "To switch the leading character, hold the helper button for that character. For example Doom is starting character, Iceman is Helper 1, and Ryu is Helper 2. To make Iceman the starting character hold Helper 1 button before the match begins."
Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Madman Musings Madman's Diary has been updated with more thoughts and a little bit of juicy info. Here are the bits I found most engrossing: "One more note on MvC2; apparently the experience points gainable is different between countries. The machine reported at California, I heard, gains about 2 points per credit. In a machine my friend in Hong Kong plays, it gains about 7-8 points per credit. And here in my local area, all the machines gain 10 points for every 10 hours the machine is on. "But the other interesting part... after every 100 exp./level up, a yellow squared box appears on one of the characters. I really wonder what that means... "There definitely seems to be a pattern on the character releases. "The first character to be released is always one of the following characters from Marvel- "Omega Red, Rogue, Storm, Psylocke "I'm not sure of the second character, but the 2nd character release seems to always be a Capcom character. Thus far I've heard of Tron Bonne and Sakura released as the 2nd character of machines, so I'm assuming that the characters get released in an order of Marvel-Capcom-Marvel-Capcom..." Characters with 'yellow boxes' gain a new color (colors?). I might just go and mail Madman about that. To see his entire diary entry, go here.
Marvel vs. Capcom 2: Joey Cuellar Part 2 Joey Cuellar, reporting for Shoryuken.com has written the second part of his report on the final version of Marvel vs. Capcom 2. The highlight would be the closing paragraph: "A few other things I saw since last report, Akuma canceling into raging demon as part of a super cancel, strider canceling into orbs as last hit seams cheap. Super bar goes to 5 rather quickly now. Reports from Japan are saying they have Omega Red, Jill Valentine and Psylocke. So there's definitely more to come in the future!"
MvsC2 GameFan Preview
GameFan have a
preview
of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 up. It's more
of a report, but it's worth reading to get an idea of the
heat surrounding the new game's release. The writer has included some
blurry, but revealing pictures, including some secret stuff.
The first shot shows the 'golden boxes', as well as Tron Bonne,
Storm and Rogue. Other shots show some cool
colors that aren't in the beta shots: nocturnal Cyclops,
mustard Venom and blue and gold Rogue.
More Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Secrets Omega Red and Psylocke are being reported as being the next secret characters on alt.games.sf2. However some posters on the newsgroup and Negative Edge have suggested others, including Cammy and Storm. Says Banshee, in the NegEdge forums: "At about 2800 points, omega red gets unlocked. someone posted that psylocke was unlocked as well. she might be next, but more likely no.4, since reports from cali,N'woleans and detroit indicate that the secret chrs release isn't random. "also, extra colors become available as time progresses.those characters then have their select box highlited in gold." So there's the explanation for the golden boxes. It's been suggested that there is a random element to unlocking characters, since not all arcades are revealing some characters in the same order. See GameFAN newsbit for a screenshot of the select screen with Storm, Tron Bonne, and Rogue but not Omega Red. Logically that means the order goes Rogue, Tron Bonne, Storm, then probably Omega Red then Psylocke. Psylocke hasn't been confirmed. | ![]() |
