SFIII: 3rd Strike Dreamcast info Some new details on the Dreamcast conversion of SFIII: 3rd Strike at The Next Level. In case you didn't know, Capcom have thrown a lot of support behind the Sega Dreamcast, mainly because it's the only widely available console that can handle graphics like Capcom's latest. Anyway, here's the report, including NEW characters: It won't be much longer until the next release in the SF3 series arrives to the Dreamcast platform. Newest details as reported via Dreamcast.net convey that Street Figther III - 3rd Strike: Fight for the Future, Capcom's new real-time online fighting game is going to have some new extras unreleased to the arcade counterpart. Among some of the additions, the grading system will now be based upon individual fighting styles, and the process of adding "results" to them through this truly innovative "grading system" system. In addition, 5 new characters will join the current cast (15 for those who are curious) of players. Release date is set for June 29th for 5800 yen...mark your calendars and of course, there will be full coverage once it's available for retail here at TNL.
And while you're marking the calender, remember that June 29th
is my 18th birthday! Heheh.

Fighters.Net editorial: What does Capcom have to offer in the future? There is a rather interesting editorial on Fighters.Net concerning the future of Capcom. It examines Capcom's track record on fighting games, what mistakes they've made and what paths they look to be heading down. Here's a titbit: In my opinion, yes and no. I'm torn by looking at this from two angles. On the one hand, Capcom is a business. Indeed, you could put it in the category of "faceless multi-national corporation", who's chief priority is to make money. And as such, you have to give them credit, since the Vs. series sells. The combination of powerful, eye-popping graphics, easy-as-piss gameplay learning curve and, of course, popular superheroes and videogame characters, accomplishes one thing: sell, sell, sell.
The Next Level Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Review Head over to The Next Level for their Marvel vs. Capcom 2 review. It's pretty favourable, although the reviewer, Bahn draws attention to the outdated sprites: With all of the positive highlights given to the game, does Marvel vs. Capcom 2 establish itself as being the next pinnacle of gaming? Is it perfect? Not quite. Though the 3D backgrounds are visually impressive (albeit, still not highly animated or 'busy' as in the vast list of SNK fighters or even the upcoming installment of Guilty Gear coming to Dreamcast), they unfortunately leave the 2D characters looking somewhat out of place.
Capcom's Dreamcast internet services slow It seems as if the internet service allowing Dreamcast owning Capcom players to play games such as Marvel vs. Capcom 2 online, Capcom of Japan Matching Service is very hard to connect to, has lots of error messages and is very laggy anyway. All 56 MvsC2 fighters hacked! The dudes at Gouki's Page of Whatever have locked themselves in for a Marvel vs. Capcom 2 sit-in, and now have their findings online. Most interesting though, is that they have received a hacked save file containing ALL 56 FIGHTERS, the extra background, all golden boxes and the ability to 'select multiple characters' Get it here (you need a DC, obviously). The save files are also available at GameFAQs. Also there are an explanation of how the save file was hacked and the beginnings of a cool FAQ. I'm going insane not having played this game (damn you Tilt! damn you Timezone!). | ![]() |
