Capcom vs. SNK poll, preview and DC release date According to The Magic Box, Capcom has confirmed the Japanese release date of Capcom vs. SNK: Millenium Fight 2000 on Dreamcast as September 6. They also have a poll - "Which one is your most wanted fighting game?". Choices include Capcom vs. SNK, Rival Schools 2 and more. Right now CvsSNK has over a third of the votes, with Soul Calibre coming second with 20%. Go vote here. Lastly, the Magic Box folk have come up with a CvsSNK preview. While it doesn't reveal much new, it has some new screenshots and artwork.
New Capcom vs. SNK pics and information Madman's Cafe has some new information on Capcom vs. SNK: Millenium Fight 2000. They have included some new pictures, which will be mirrored here at Grand Archive soon. Read more here.
Capcom vs. SNK undergoes beta testing From Capcom's latest fighting extravaganza Capcom vs. SNK: Millenium Fight 2000 has just undergone a beta test in Japan. Madman's Cafe has a juicy beta report here including who people picked and what the play balance was like (pretty horrible). Interestingly, it mentions that the backgrounds are 2D rather than 3D as in Marvel vs. Capcom 2. However the backgrounds looked 3D to me from the gameplay movies, and it would be foolish not to take advantage of that feature given the Naomi (same as MvsC2) arcade board.
Capcom rumoured to get rights to SNK games From The Magic Box: RUMOR: After releasing The King of Fighters 2000 in Japan, SNK will be transferring the copyrights of their fighting game series Fatal Fury and Samurai Spirits to Capcom. Capcom will be publishing future sequels of both titles in the future, the games will be handled by Capcom's new subsidiary, which is formed by over 80 ex-SNK staffs who previously worked on the two series. Seems like SNK is moving away from 2D and focus on 3D game titles in the future. Note that this is only a rumour. Capcom has previously denied hiring ex-SNK staff.
New Capcom vs. SNK release date Capcom has given the release date of the Dreamcast version of Capcom vs. SNK: Millenium Fight 2000 as September 8, 2000.
Capcom denies hiring ex-SNK employees From From GameFan: According to U.S. sources at Capcom Entertainment, rumors that over eighty former SNK employees have joined the Capcom of Japan ranks are just that...rumors. "So far, we've heard nothing to validate the buzz about ex-SNK employees working for Capcom," stated Matt Atwood, Public Relations Manager at Capcom Entertainment. A large number of SNK employees did leave SNK of Japan (most notably, the head of development for NGPC software), but it's believed that these former SNK workers are forming a new development studio. More details to come...
Capcom acquires eighty ex-SNK staffers? As you may know, King of Fighters producers SNK recently closed down all development outside of Japan. From GameFan: According to Chinese gaming websites Sega Asia and IGamest, this morning, over eighty former SNK employees (including the teams behind the company's most popular franchises) were snapped up by Capcom after a mass exodus from SNK's parent company, Aruze. Rumor has it that Capcom of Japan intends to use these former SNK employees to start a new, all 2-D game development subsidiary (or, depending on whose report you believe, all 3-D...we don't know for certain) and acquire the rights to all of SNK's top gaming properties. We'll stay on top of this story and see if we can get comment from anyone at Capcom... Good news for fans of 2-D, but this sort of puts an ironic spin on the SNK Vs. Capcom game title, doesn't it? | ![]() |
