Play by Mail - A trend that never ended.by Armando Ladron de Guevara AlvaradoIn the beginning you could only play RPGs localy and either you had to spend a lot of time and money to start a new gaming group of look for one in bulletin boards all over town. Then a new thing started: Playing by Mail. To play you would send your response of the game by mail and then the DM would compile all the responses to a small story and continue with the game. For more than a decade it worked like that for many gamers. But because of the expenses of mailing it cost the player money to play. When Internet comes to view a new and inexpensive way to play is made: Play by e-mail (PBeM). It works the same way as by mail but without the expenses. Most people do it for hobby and a minimum number of companies with commercial intentions for the game exist. Armando's RPG Center has its own division of PBeM but its very small and at this moment the game is more than full (if you wish to watch the game just send a message to captcolo@oocities.com and ask to join the mailing list of watchers. But don't worry, if you want to join a game as a player there is a center brought free to you by Ivory Games called PBeM Center at www.pbem.com where you can look for games yourself and join one.
