The AD&D 1998 Product Catalog

by Armando Ladron de Guevara Alvarado

The 1998 catalog is out! But as many of you already know TSR Incorporated, producers of AD&D and its big line of products, was bought by Wizards of the Coast, creators of such memorable card games as Magic: The Gathering and Battletech: The Card Game. Well their has been a lot of speculation on the faith of the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons product line.

Some said that AD&D would never the same, that Wizards of the Coast would start limit the things that come out for AD&D. Others said, on the other hand, that this take over would make AD&D better and some even said that AD&D wouldn't change.

Well as I already said the 1998 Wizards of the Coast is out and is available free upon request to Wizards of the Coast via the Internet or e-mail, and also is included in a plastic bag with Dragon Magazine February 1998 Edition (Dragon Magazine #244) and also includes a poster that has the calendar of releases. Now I must say I am really surprised about the catalog. Most of it is about AD&D products in all the settings with many accessories and novels. The one I am very interested in is the release of the latest novel about the Avatar Trilogy Crucible, the Trial of Cyric the Mad that seems will be a great release.

This catalog is great and the releases are even better though they won't release anything for Darksun. It seems that the fears of many people where wrong because all releases are very interesting. One I want to note that is on top of my head is the Forgotten Realms Accessory on the Cult of the Dragon. This book will include all the information you every wanted to know about the Cult. I am still trying to investigate if they will reprint many of the accessories that have gone out of stock indefinitely.
