1837 bears a large relation to 1835, and expands on the basic structure of that game. There are three companies that form from minors similar to 1835's Prussian Railroad. The private companies are called mountain railroads and they can control the mountain passes. The stock market is a hexagonal grid, and stock prices can go in six different directions, based on total subscription of stock, payout, withholding, splitting, stock sales, etc. Companies may voluntarily scrap trains for a fee, to prevent the train-locking that we have all experienced in other 18xx titles... A new type of company, the coal-company, runs goods (freight) trains to and from coal mines on the board.
