About The Depot:

Legal Stuff

The Depot is a not-for-profit reference for the titles of the 18xx board and computer game system and their variants. The Depot is not an affiliate of, or supported in any fashion by, any game company. The site has been generously donated by Real Time Information Services.

Copyrights

The 18xx game system is copyrighted by Francis Tresham. The individual games and variants are copyright of the publishing company and/or designer. Articles, artwork, and such are copyright of the author/artist/whatever. If a game, variant, article, or piece of artwork is not credited, I assume that it is in the public domain (or I created it myself). If something should be credited or is not correctly credited, please let me know, and I will correct it ASAP.

Similarly, the work found on this site represents a lot of hard work on several people's part. You are welcome to download it, read it, pass it on, but please do not add it to your own web/ftp sites without first contacting the author/artist/whatever.

Finally, it not our intent to tread upon the copyright of anyone. Hopefully, the information presented here will aid gamers in playing games by email, knowing which titles are available, knowing what variants exist, and deciding which games may be worth purchasing or merit further investigation. If you feel that the information presented here is a problem, (or groosly unfair) let the Stationmaster know, and we will try to resolve things in a mutually agreeable manner.

Playtesting

If you are playtesting a new 18xx title, we would like to hear about it. There are a few things that you ought to consider before sending a report (and will be considered when the report is readied for the web). One: is the report going to compromise the designer's secret's? (a general description of features is usually ok: 1856 adds governmental loans to the 18xx system vs. a detailed description of the mechanics of the loans) Two: is the designer going to be happy to see the report? (some designers would prefer that there be no discussion of their design - or you may not have an authorized playtest copy) Three: is the report objective? (sometimes it is hard for a designer to see the strengths and/or flaws of their design - sometimes it is hard for someone to see the strengths and/or flaws of a design by a designer that they really like or dislike).

Designers: The stationmaster, and many of the contributers playtest games. If you wish to have one (or all) of us playtest a title, or you want to send a title for review (wow!), send it to:

David Reed
1034B Crystal Brook

USA

We are unable to return review copies. Games sent for playtesting will be returned if the designer wishes.
