Starcraft is one awesome strategy game, game of the year 98, I think. I recommend it. It's a best seller and you can play it online at Battle.net. Here are the cheats just in case you need them. (Well of course you would need them) The new add-on Brood Wars is cool, it gives some units that are very useful and balance the game more or actually give more power to some races.
I play Zerg very often and find the new Lurker good for defense and attack in Brood Wars. Also, the much needed Devourer helps loads, more air damage without scrouge and suicide. Protoss carriers and Terran battlecruisers everywhere beware of the new anti-air units that'll rip them a new one.
I have almost a 5 to 1 ratio with my win loss record on Brood Wars... my nickname is Takhan.
CHEATS: show me the money= 10,000 minerals and vespene gas
power overwhelming= your units can't be hurt by enemy units (except by broodlings spell from Zerg Queen)
there is no cow level= finish mission, win the scenario
operation cwal= speed up production and upgrade time
whats mine is mine= 500 minerals
breathe deep= 500 vespene gas
black sheep wall= remove fog and reveal map
war aint what it used to be= remove fog
food for thought= build more units than supply/control/psi buildings/units built (max 200) (eg. you only have one supply depot but can still build up to the 200 supply limit)
Note: Cheats only work for single player. No cheats work for multiplayer unless you got some hack, which Blizzard will be angry about and ban you and punish as much as they can.
