Alive
By: Elizabeth Wasmund
"I am beyond your peripheral vision,
so you might want to turn your head..."
It's as if the thought was verbalized,
and he breathed the life back into me.
Someone wanting you,
- watching as you walk down the hall -
makes you feel right.
Strong but gentle, he is security.
The look is encouraging -
silently telling me I can do whatever I want,
and I will be supported, and admired.
Young and energetic, he is adventure.
The look is suggestive -
hinting at where I can go,
and what I can do,
knowing I will be alright.
Feelings which are bazaare at first,
yet things like this become comforting with time.
That is what makes a person alive.
As a very physical and emotional being,
solitude is my hell,
while a simple and gentle touch is my heaven.
To be there with him is a sweet surrender.
I am not just me any longer.
I become more
and that's what makes a person alive.
