Snowfall
By: Robert McCreadie
I can still remember when
snow fell years ago in my
hometown. The blinding powder
coated literally each
and every blade of grass.
The air itself was ice, freez-
ing and burning as it was
expelled into the space
before me. Lungs ached, eyes
watered, noses ran, toes
numbed, ears pained - and yet
we remained out there in
the tundra. Frozen, tired,
hungry - we played on. We
all became ill, sick with a
cold or the flu, our moms' more
than angry with us. Despite
all of this, when the snow had
melted away, it left be-
hind a hollowness. To this
day, I wish for the snows to
return to my life once more.
