Basic Strategy:

  • Base placement is very improtant and is the first step to winning a game. Place your base near a good supply of resources, while not confining yourself from cities so you many expand quickly. Finding resources that can be loaded and took to a nearby city in one move is best so you do not have to assign so many trucks at the beginning of the game. So when you place your base, look for these things and try to plan ahead when it comes to your expansion.

  • Use a $100 combo at the beginning of the game during most situations. If you have placed your base close to an ample supply of both resources and cities, then this works best. By buying a transport, soldier, dozer, and truck you can travel good distances while taking both resources and cities.

  • Do not buy Alpha Soldiers. In most cases they are a waist of your money. You can defed with fortifications or porcs cheaper than with the Alphas. The only time the Alpha Soldier should be used is when you need that 1 extra move that it provides over the regular soldier to take a strategical advantage over an opponent.

  • When managing your resources, only assign when necessary. If you can load all of your resources into a truck and still get it to a city to cash in then assigning is not necessary. Only assign those resources away from cities. It is also helpfull to drop flags into your resources as your bulldozer takes them. Flags help to defend for atleast one attack, if not two. Flags are dropped from the dozer for $6 when you hit ctrl+D.

  • If you are recieveing treaty money, try to build the Panther on the first turn. This will help you to expand rapidly, and you will not have to take a transport with them becasue they will usually out run it.

If you are on a water map, try to do the same with the shark. You will find this to be more difficult because of the amount of money involved. This will usually require you to come back into the game on turn 0 and collect any peace treaties that have been signed. By building these universities so early, your expansion for the first turn may look weak, but once you get the sharks and the money starts flowing in you will quickly jump ahead of the rest.

  • Do not put any porcs in your base until the end of the 3rd turn. No one can take you before the 4th turn, therefore there isnt any need for them until then. Always put atlest 2-3 porcs in your base on teh 3rd turn, but as the game goes on you might want to up the number of porcs in your base.

  • Setting your tax rate appropriatly can be a problem for new players. If you set your tax rate to 0% at the beggining then your population will grow rapidly. The problem with this is that many times you will spend all of your money feeding the population with new farms rather than advancing your technology. The plus side is that once engaged in attacks, you can restet your tax rate and make huge amounts of money off of the bigger population.

OR, you can set your tax rate to 55%. This will hold all of your cities at their current population. At the same time, you might want to find your two most populous cities. Take these cities and set the tax rate to 0%. Make sure to hit the 'keep' button when you do this. This way you will only have to buy farms for those two cities. After the population reaches above 5000 people, when you build a university you will get two new units instead of only one. This comes in really handy when you are building air force universities becasue of the cost involved.
