The Rest of Us

What's the feeling to look on beauty
Not able to soak in its glory
To stand outside the ring-
Not part of the story

Having men mock you
And women gazing in scorn
But all the while you smile
While inside your soul is torn

Chastised and pitied
Unfortunate, unlucky, and mad
All these describe you
But one is none, and you are sad

They talk and stare
You are there to amuse
They beat and scream
It is you they abuse

You will not be included
You will be shunned
You will be afraid
They will be stunned

There is a day you will snap
This rage will be let loose
They will find you then
Swinging from a noose
