Jusonna

Jusonna's History

Jusonna's parents were lucky in that they had what a lot of riders never achieve- a happy and successful weyrmating. Three turns after brown Lyth's rider S'dason and green Galadrieth's Julani began sharing a weyr at Starmount, their daughter Jusonna was born. Her childhood was a happy one. Though she was fostered to one of the women in the Lower Caverns, her parents kept a close eye on her. They showered her with affection and, when necessary, loving discipline. As a result, she grew up to become a mature and responsible young woman who absolutely delights in /living/ life, rather than just existing. She threw herself into her chores, always willing to lend a hand.
Then came the day she was Searched for the double clutch of Annath and Ceylinth. She just /knew/ there had to be a mistake- she couldn't get so lucky as to Impress a dragon. She was wrong. Pudgy green Cavyth chose the girl as her lifemate, opening a whole new world of wonders.
Jusonna's personality changed slightly after she Impressed. Although still caring and optimistic, she became somewhat rebellious, not quite understanding /why/ things at a Weyr must be the way they are. She got herself in for a great deal of trouble, including getting nosy enough to earn herself several weeks of latrine duty from the WLM. Even after graduation from weyrlinghood into Tempest Wing, she didn't settle down. At one point she let slip her opinion of Weyrleaders... right in front of her own Weyrleader! She was lucky enough to get away with a tongue-lashing that time. She's learning to keep her opinions to herself, though certain remarks by others can cause her to slip and let out a badly-timed comment.

Jusonna's Personality

Ju's a bit confusing at times. On the one hand, she's a rebel who demands to have a darn good reason for any order she disagrees with. On the other, she's a dedicated worker who takes her duties quite seriously. In fact, she's quite happy on the permanent dawn sweeps she requested. She hates the way the leaders of the Weyrs (and for that matter, Holds) are chosen. In her opinion, a Weyrleadership should be earned by hard work, not given out based on who rides the fastest dragon. "And why should only the golds be in charge?" she demands. Again, she feels that rank should be earned. To her, Weyrwomen are even more useless than Weyrleaders- after all, they didn't even have to win a race to get their rank: all they did was Impress and voila! Instant power. Bloody amazing... She knows that she could do just as good a job running a Weyr, but will she ever get the chance? Nooooooo, because she rides a green. And though she'd never trade her precious hair-chewing Cavyth for any mangy gold, she does feel that this is unfair. This opinion was further fueled by the extreme contrast between the queens' weyrs and those of other dragons. The golds and their riders enjoy opulence and fine furnishings, whereas the rest of us have to scrabble along with whatever's left over in storage. And you should see it when somebody gets her started on these subjects.
