HEAVY SUPPORT

Megadon

Megadons are large, lumbering beasts native to the Exodite Worlds. The Exodites use them as massive beasts of war by strapping gun platforms to their enormous bodies and directing them toward the enemy. As the Megadon advances the, the Heavy Weapons mounted on its gun platforms blaze away, softening up the enemy lines. When it gets close enough, the Megadon will then charge into the enemy, flattening their ranks under its thundering feet as the Exodite Warriors aboard lash out with their own weapons.

Megadon 65 4 3 5 6 4 2 2 6 4+

Weapons: One Shuriken Catapault and two gun platforms, each of which must be armed with a weapon chosen from the following: Twin-Linked Shuriken Catapault +10 pts; Shuriken Cannon +30 pts; Scatter Laser +45 pts; Eldar Missile Launcher +60 pts; Bright Lance +55 pts; Starcannon +55 pts.

Special Rules

Large Monster: The Megadon is a Large Monster and follows the rules presented on the Rules and Reference Page.

Shooting: The Megadon's crew may always fire any weapons carried by the Megadon, whether it moved or not. Enemy models may target the Megadon as long as they can draw line of sight to it. Exodite infantry models cannot block line of sight to a Megadon, but Cavalry and other Large Monsters can.
Megadon & Crew: The Megadon and its crew form a single model with the combined profile shown above. The fighting abilities of both the Megadon and the Exodite crew are taken into account in the profile. Until the last wound is taken, the model continues to fight with full effectiveness, firing all weapons and using its full number of Attacks in an Assault. When the last wound is taken, the entire model should be removed as a casualty.

Impact Damage: When a Megadon Charges, it uses horns to impale, or heavy feet to crush the enemy as it bounds in towards them. A charging Megadon therefore gets an extra D3 attacks when it charges rather than the usual +1.

Watch Out!: Standing in the path of a fleeing Megadon is not something sane creatures will do by choice. Due to this, Megadons never suffer crossfire. Instead, if the Megadon falls back through a unit (be it friend or enemy), that unit is affected by Tank Shock, as described in the Warhammer 40,000 Rulebook.

Trichedon Support Battery

In addition to the Trichedons that accompany squads of Exodite Warriors on the battlefield, some Exodite Lords will direct their Warriors to form batteries of Trichedons to provide mobile supporting fire. These units are often slow and cumbersome, but pack a mighty punch when they open fire. Though the Exodites do not use the more advanced support weaponry of their Craftworld kin, they are able to switch from one Trichedon to another with ease, keeping as many support guns operational as possible.

Warrior - 3 3 3 3 1 4 1 8 5+
Trichedon 20 3 0 4 4 2 2 1 5 4+

Battery: Each unit consists of 1-3 Trichedons.

Weapons: All of the Trichedons must be armed with the same type of weapon from the following: Shuriken Cannon +30 pts; Scatter Laser +40 pts; Eldar Missile Launcher +45 pts; Bright Lance +40 pts; Starcannon +40 pts.

Crew: Each Trichedon is crewed by two Warriors armed with Shuriken Catapaults or Shuriken Pistols and Close Combat Weapons.

Special Rules

Resilient: Trichedons have extremely thick hides and are extremely tough and notoriously difficult to bring down. For this reason, they are granted a special 6+ invulnerable saving throw that they may take if their ordinary save is negated.

Weapons Platform: Each Trichedon has two Warriors as crew. One crewman is required to fire the support weapon, the other is free to fire his own weapon. The weapon may be fired even if it is a Heavy Weapon and the squad moved. If one crewman is killed the platform operates as normal, if both crew are killed the weapon may not be fired unless a spare crewman from another Trichedon takes over. If the Trichedon is slain, the weapon it is carrying is assumed to be destroyed.

Jungle Warriors: Exodite Warriors, as well as Trichedons, follow the rules for Jungle Warriors as presented earlier in this Codex See the Rules and Reference Page for details on the special rules used by Jungle Warriors.

Hunter Support Battery

In order to bring down the largest and most dangerous creatures on the Exodite Worlds, the Dragon Hunters sometimes employ large ballistic weapons akin to massive crossbows constructed of Wraithbone. The bolts that these Wraithbone Ballistas fire are surrounded by a powerful energy field capable of penetrating the thick hides of Megadons, not to mention piercing vehicle armour almost as easily.

UnitCost WSBS ST WI ALd Save
Dragon Hunter 40 3 3 3 3 1 4 1 8 5+

Battery: Each unit consists of 1-3 Wraithbone Ballistas.

Options: Any Wraithbone Ballista may be upgraded to a Double-Shot Ballista at a cost of +5 pts. This has the same effect as a twin-linked weapon, so you may reroll any missed To Hit rolls when shooting.

Crew: Each Ballista is crewed by two Hunters armed with Wraithbone Bows and Close Combat Weapons.

Special Rules

Weapons Platform: Each Ballista has two Hunters as crew. One crewman is required to fire the support weapon, the other is free to fire his own weapon. If one crewman is killed the Ballista operates as normal, if both crew are killed the weapon may no longer be fired. (The weapon itself cannot be hit.) Wraithbone Ballistas are cumbersome to move about, and loading and aiming them takes time. For this reason, they may not move and fire, as indicated by their Weapon Type of Heavy.

Hunter's Cloak: Dragon Hunters wear a cloak that helps them to reamin unseen by their reptillian prey. It works equally well against other life forms who may wish to attack the Hunters. Dragon Hunters therefore add +1 to any cover save they make, so a 5+ cover save becomes a 4+. If they are out in the open, they have a 6+ cover save.

Jungle Warriors: Dragon Hunters follow the rules for Jungle Warriors as presented earlier in this Codex. See the Rules and Reference Page for details on the special rules used by Jungle Warriors.
