TROOPS

1+ Exodite Dragon Knight Squad

The Dragon Knights are the warriors and herd-tenders of the Exodite worlds. They ride on the backs of domesticated reptiles slightly larger than horses, and carry long Laser Lances which they use to prod the enormous creatures that they herd along. When not tending to herds, Dragon Knights are usually engaged in combat of one kind or another amongst themselves, honing their skills to perfection. A Knight and his Dragon form an inseperable bond, and a deadly team on the field of battle.

Special Rules

Cavalry: Dragon Knights are a type of Cavalry, as described on page 93 of the Warhammer 40,000 Rulebook, with the exception listed below.

Saddle Born: Dragon Knights are quite accustomed to shooting from atop their Dragons. They follow the Saddle Born rule as presented on the Rules and Reference Page.

Resilient: Dragons are very tough creatures, and very hard to kill. To represent the extra protection this affords their riders, they add a bonus of +1 to the Toughness and +2 to the Armour Save of the model riding them. These bonuses are already taken into account in the profiles given above.

Jungle Warriors: Dragon Knights follow the rules for Jungle Warriors as presented earlier in this Codex. See the Rules and Reference Page for details on the special rules used by Jungle Warriors.

Exodite Tribesmen

Aside from the ever-present Dragon Knights, Exodite Tribesmen make up the bulk of the fighting force when it comes time for the Exodites to go to war. As on the Craftworlds, the Exodites are so few that every citizen is trained in the arts of war to be able to lend their weight to any assault or defense in time of need. They are organised into squads under a respected leader, often one of the minor Chiefs or Tribal Lords.

Tribesman 8 3 3 3 3 1 4 1 8 5+
Minor Lord +10 4 4 3 3 1 5 2 8 5+
Trichedon Varies 3 0 4 4 2 2 1 5 4+

Squad: The squad consists of between 10 and 20 Tribesmen.

Weapons: Shuriken Catapault

Options: The squad may be armed with Plasma grenades at a cost of +2pts per model. Up to two models may replace their Shuriken Catapaults with either a Fusion Gun at +5 pts or a Flamer at +4 pts.

The Tribesmen may be accompanied by a Trichedon carrying one of the following heavy weapons at the additional points cost listed: Shuriken Cannon +40 pts; Scatter Laser +50 pts; Eldar Missile Launcher +60 pts; Bright Lance +55 pts; Starcannon +55 pts. The Trichedon has two Tribesmen as crew, each armed with a Shuriken Catapault or a Shuriken Pistol and Close Combat Weapon. The weapon requires one crew to fire, the other may shoot with their own weapon freely. If one crewman is killed, the weapon operates normally. If both are killed the weapon may no longer be fired, but the Trichedon will remain with the squad and may continue to fight in close combat. The weapon may be fired even if it is a Heavy Weapon and the squad moved. If the Trichedon is slain, the weapon it is carrying is assumed to be destroyed. Note that a Trichedon has an invulnerable save of 6+ to account for its resilient nature and the strong, bony plate on its head.

Character: One model in the squad may be upgraded to a Minor Lord for +10 pts. The Minor Lord may exchange his Shuriken Catapault for a Shuriken Pistol and a Close Combat Weapon at no extra cost, or a Shuriken Pistol and Power Weapon for +5 pts.

Special Rules

Jungle Warriors: Exodite Tribesmen follow the rules for Jungle Warriors as presented earlier in this Codex. See the Rules and Reference Page for details on the special rules used by Jungle Warriors.

Exodite Warriors

Warrior Squads are made up of Exodite Tribesmen equipped and trained for close combat. They are able to make their way quickly accross the battlefield and engage the enemy in a deadly assault. Just like Tribesmen, Warriors are often lead into battle by a minor Chief or Lord

Exodite Dragon Hunter Squad

Dragon Hunters are very important in Exodite society. They are responsible not only for hunting Dragons for food and other resources, but also for capturing Dragons for Handlers to train as mounts, beasts of burden and beasts of war. They are armed with an archaic-looking, but still quite effective bow made from Wraithbone. As Wraithbone is so rare on the Exodite worlds, these bows tend to be family heirlooms, passed down from one generation of Dragon Hunters to the next.

UnitCost WSBS ST WI ALd Save
Dragon Hunter 9 3 3 3 3 1 4 1 8 5+
Handler +15 4 4 3 3 1 5 1 9 5+

Squad: The squad consists of between 5 and 10 Hunters.

Weapons: Wraithbone Bow and Close Combat Weapon. They also wear Hunter's Cloaks.

Options: One model may be given a Horn of Kurnous for +25 pts.

Character: One Dragon Hunter may be upgraded to a Handler at a cost of +15 pts. Any unit of Raptors or Fire Lizards with a model within 12" of the Handler may test on his Leadership value of 9 for all Leadership Tests as long as they remain within 12" of him. The Handler may replace his Wraithbone Bow with a Talon Bolas for +10 pts.

Special Rules

Hunter's Cloak: Dragon Hunters wear a cloak that helps them to reamain unseen by their reptillian prey. It works equally well against other life forms who may wish to attack the Hunters. Dragon Hunters therefore add +1 to any cover save they make, so a 5+ cover save becomes a 4+. If they are out in the open, they have a 6+ cover save.

Jungle Warriors: Dragon Hunters follow the rules for Jungle Warriors as presented earlier in this Codex. See the Rules and Reference Page for details on the special rules used by Jungle Warriors.
