Dimitri Pallaudaenus was selected at birth to join the ranks of the Grey Knights due to high levels of psychic potential and the excellent genetic stock from which he was drawn. Born on the Ultramarine homeworld of Macragge, Pallaudaenus would most likely have become a member of the Ultramarine Chapter had the Inquisition not chosen him. His selection proved true as he rapidly progressed in his early training and, once he was old enough, took well to the implants and genetic enhancements that would turn him into a super-human Space Marine. So devout was his loyalty to his Emperor that his psycho-indoctrination sessions were relatively smooth and painless, a rarity indeed.
In his many long years of service to the Grey Knights, Pallaudaenus has battled many foul daemons in the name of the Ordo Malleus, banishing them back to the Warp where they belong. One Daemon in particular seems to keep popping up in his travels however, the foul Daemon Prince Plaguespawn, favored servant of Nurgle. His first encounter with the creature occurred when the rogue Inquisitor Helmond freed it from centuries-long imprisonment in psychic stasis. Helmond intended to bind the foul creature into a sword, but was slaughtered by the cruel Daemon. The timely intervention of Inquisitor Darius and his band brought word to the Grey Knights, who quickly dispatched Pallaudaenus, who was already on planet, to deal with the Daemon before it could regain its strength. After a long and epic struggle, and with the aid of Darius and his band, Pallaudaenus managed to banish Plaguespawn from the material universe, but only temporarily. The vile Plaguespawn has returned to haunt Pallaudaenus on countless occasions, and though he has thus far been successful at keeping the Daemon Prince's schemes and machinations in check, he knows he hasn't seen the last of it. Not by a long shot...
