Dear Adventurer,
Welcome to the ninth edition of the Famous Adventurer's Correspondence
School!
The official Quest for Glory V: Dragon Fire Soundtrack/Sneak Peek Demo
has been released. Now we can concentrate on delivering what we feel
will be the greatest rpg/adventure game ever made.
Some reports complaining about CD-ROM drives unable to read the demo,
random crashes and the just new to my ears 'error 2' are trickling in
but over all it appears to be working well. If you have any problems
with the demo try our support button at http://wwww.qg5.com. This is a
direct link to Technical Support via the web. Though we tried to make
the demo as clean as possible the deadline forced us to hold some of the
fixes for the full product. And, unlike the demo, we will have a beta
test process to help flush out bugs that only customers seem to find.
We're just about to finish up creating a patch that will fix the latency
problem in multiplayer. When the patch becomes available I'll announce
it at the Dragon Fire web site.
Since we have released the Dragon Fire Sneak Peek demo I've tried to be
as visible as possible and help answer any and all questions. I visit
the qfg board at sierra.com daily and have been trying to attend some of
the chats. The qfg board is a great place to meet other fans and it's a
great place to let your ideas about Quest for Glory be known. I read
everything there and the really good ones I send to Lori Cole. Believe
me, the fans really do have input.
Btw, we are planning a chat with Lori Cole and Chance Thomas to be
hosted by TalkCity still to be announced. When I find out the date and
time I will announce it at the web site (qg5.com) and send a short blurb
in a newsletter to all the subscribers.
Since I mentioned Chance, here he is in person!
The Conductor's Platform - Contributed by Chance Thomas
Hi again! I love staying in touch with all of you through this
newsletter, and always look forward to your feedback on our efforts. I
have particularly enjoyed the enthusiastic response from those of you
who already have copies of the Dragon Fire Soundtrack whirling around in
your CD players. Your praise for the music has been a rich reward, and
on behalf of everyone involved, we're glad you like it! It was our
passion to give the fans of Quest For Glory a full, rich musical
experience on a Soundtrack album that would truly foreshadow the coming
game. I think we've done that.
I've received several requests to post additional music clips from the
Dragon Fire Soundtrack up on the Internet. And you know we always try to
accommodate when we can. So we've added a new link to our "Soundtrack"
page in order to fulfill your requests. If you'll go to www.QG5.com, and
follow the "Music" and "Soundtrack" buttons, you'll find a link to Sonic
Images near the top of the page. Take that link, and then click on the
"Clips and Credits" button to discover SEVEN new samples, including "The
Rite of Destiny", "The Rite of Conquest", "Frolic at Gnome Ann's Land
Inn", a new part of the "Overture", and a few others. We really do aim
to please...
Now the bulk of composition work for this game is complete. And I have
enjoyed it! From the earliest sketches plunked out in October of 1996,
through the months of writing melodies and fine-tuning arrangements,
through a number of live recording sessions and a Hollywood mastering
session, and finally to the December 31 release of the Dragon Fire
Soundtrack/Sneak Peek Game Demo CD - this has been an awesome
experience. There remain a number of background pieces still to be
written for the game, most of which will be derivative of works embodied
in the Soundtrack. And of course we still have months of programming
implementation to work through. So although the composition phase is
waning, you can see that there's still much to do.
Until next time...
Chance
Thanks Chance!
