I'm particularly interested in the 4th NYHA since my ggg-grandfather was surgeon of this regiment. I'm interested in finding out about others who are interested in the 4th. Please visit my website about my ancestor.

Ted, you have many of the same interests I have. As a former Scoutmaster (I am an Eagle), I am glad to see a really innovative post. I, too, had relatives in the war (on the CSA side). As to wargaming (what led me to your site), I have the ASL and the
ater CWBS games in my small library, although I will confess right away they are not the games I know the most about. Show me how to PBEM (I'm just starting that, too). I work in Hospital Administration, so there is yet another thing we have in common.
Good luck! Kenneth Oates

What you found interesting: 148th Regiment.
What can be improved: Wouldn't presume - a bit of a neophite, myself.
You suggestions and comments: Any information on the companies that were detacted for a while - specifically Co. B?
Comments:
I'm in the process of rediscovering the Civil War after a recent trip to Gettysberg. My 84 yo father informed me that his maternal grandfather, John Kane, who is buried in Utica, has 'Co. B, 148th NYV' on his tombstone. So, I've been scouring the web look
ng for material, but the 148th isn't one of the most represented.
Making it even more difficult is the family's oral history that has been saying John was shot in the hip at Gettysberg - the 148th wasn't even there! The plot thickens.
Thanks for your time and effort - there's so much we've forgotten about that time. Anything of such huge dimentions and consequences needs to be remembered.
