The Battle

Because of the attacks the team has already endured, the team's patron assigns two starfuries to protect them during their trip. This is none too soon. Despite some problems obtaining the starfuries, the team's transports and escorts get underway only a few hours late.

During the trip, the convoy is attacked by a squadron of raiders! Outnumbered, the team manages to gain the upper hand thanks to a risky tactic that the team's diplomat remembered from his days in the Dilgar war. The transports are damaged and one of the starfuries is shot down, but the pilot manages to eject and the raiders are driven off. Their Minbari friend responds to their distress call and he intercepts and captures the surviving raider. Later interrogation of the raider pilot reveals that the raiders were warned that the the team was actually a "shipment of valuable goods" and accidentally lets slip a clue that may lead to the capture of the raiders.

The leader of the Psi-cop team, Bester calls them to berate them for letting the renegade slip through their fingers, but if Bester hadn't delayed in releasing the information it never would have happened.

...Meanwhile, at Babylon 5 the Advisory council debates a proposal for "greater cooperation between law enforcement authorities" that would allow certain specially authorized teams to operate with wider lattitude and increased inter-service communication. The proposal is modified to require a represenative of each major empire to be on the team. The proposal barely passes only because Kosh appears to vote, one of the few times he takes an active position ever.
