As the team regroups from the lost battle, the Psi Cops arrive in force. Furthermore, the EAS Zeus, a capital ship, is on it's way to crush the raider base with overwhelming firepower. But the team's patron gives them a tricky assignment: if the team can take over the raider base before the Zeus arrives, the team will be able to use the base as a secret base of operations. But if the Zeus has to bail them out, the secrecy will be lost and the base made public. Their patron has made a deal with the Psi Corps to work together on this secret base.
The raiders make a break to escape, but the team and the Psi Cops are waiting for them. The Psi corps renegade that they have been pursuing contacts them from one of the raider's ships by radio, and begins to reveal to them a terrible secret of the Psi Corps. She continues her revelation unfazed and unemotionally even as the Psi Corps Black Omega fighters blow up her ship. The remaining raiders surrender. With the renegade slain, the Psi Corps job is done and they depart. The team continues on to the raider base, knowing that two of the raider's ships are still unaccounted for.
They arrive to find the base deserted except for civilian prisoners of the raiders and the pathetic remnants of the raiders who were left behind during the evacuation. The pathetic remainder tries to hold the prisoners hostage, threatening to depressurize the prisoner section if they are not allowed to escape. The marines on the team attack and swiftly gun down the raiders and the prisoners are saved.
The team moves quickly to bring the base under their control. The prisoners are cared for, and the base explored. The team's marine has a regrettable incident with the Mimbarai represenative. Reinforcements arrive, and the base is made operational. This solar system is surveyed, and they learn about the ancient alien ruins nearby.
