One of the greatest evils of our day, is pornography. Before I go any further, let me define pornography. Literally, pornography is the voluntary exposure of one’s body, for public viewing, without modest clothing. This includes not just the obvious, nude photos, topless bars, and adult videos, but all other indecent exposure as well. We can list in this group, run way models, swimsuit models, fitness models and others, who show off clothes which are extremely form fitting, cover very little of the body, or are see-through. This also includes what so many consider “art”. Any statue or painting, ancient or modern, that openly displays a nude or semi-nude human body for a non-medical purpose, is, in my opinion, pornographic. And yes, if the Mona Lisa were topless, I would consider it pornographic.

Now don’t tell me that the human body is a beautiful thing, which should be seen and displayed. For, within that statement, there is one truth and one lie. Yes, the human body is beautiful. But that is not a reason to expose it. Because, it is not only beautiful, but it is sacred. Therefore it should not be displayed, but treated with reverent dignity and respect. This is accomplished by properly covering the body in public and only allowing medical professionals and one’s spouse to see one’s body unclothed.

Pornographic images are way too easy to obtain in today’s society. Magazines with immodestly dressed women emblazoned on the covers fill the check out aisles of supermarkets and cover entire walls in some bookstores. These seemingly harmless magazines are an introduction to pornography. Even if not purchased, they help to desensitize all who see them. Service station food stores, bookshops and other such businesses openly display pornographic magazines, which are bought and sold with no shame. Pornographic Pay-per-view programs, offered by cable and satellite systems, are available twenty-four hours a day. Many video rental stores openly advertise X-rated movies. The Internet is a pervert’s dream. Never before has so many foul and obscene images been so readily available to anyone, regardless of age. Evil, sick-minded perverts, hiding behind the first amendment, spread this filth across the earth using the World Wide Web. Let me assure you, when the founding fathers of this nation wrote the amendment granting free speech, they did not intend for it to protect such people, nor did they have any concept that it would be twisted to such a degree.

The natural process of creating a new, innocent child is a beautiful and personal act, that involves the giving of oneself to another. Proper sex is not sin. It is an expression of ultimate, intimate love. It is the method which has been divinely established for men and women to create families. Pornography takes this and reduces it to a crudely executed, mechanically performed, bodily function, with no emotion whatsoever. Men and women are driven by the love of money and the lusts of the flesh, to portray their bodies as mere objects of pleasure. Women are made to appear as nothing more than a sum of their sexual parts. Such people have pleasure as their god and fornication, along with all its accompanying sins, as their worshiping ordinances.

Swimsuit magazines, and other publications, with pictures of scantly clad women are the beginning steps of pornography. Any man whom consistently and regularly views such, will, after a while, want to see more and will take the next step down to viewing nudity. If left unchecked, this practice soon becomes addictive and eventually leads to the viewing of courser material. It seems there is no end to the thousands upon thousands of men and women, who have had all morals and any remorse of continence, if such ever existed, seared from their souls through lust and greed. These people, who have absolutely no respect for themselves, allow their bodies to be photographed to the greatest degree of immodesty. Their images fill the pages of countless magazines, books, calendars, and the list goes on.

Men who look at pornography find it difficult to think about anything else for very long before one of the images which they have seen pops into their minds. Thus, their minds are constantly polluted with sexual thoughts and they burn with unholy lust. They are then desensitized and the desire to carry out sexual acts becomes a consuming passion. They look for ways to fulfil their loveless and perverse cravings. Most turn to the demoralizing sin of masturbation at first. But this sin only fuels the fires of lust burning within and soon losses its thrill. They then turn to others in their desperate search for gratification. Often times lustful men find that most normal women in our society do have some morals and will not allow themselves to be treated as a plaything. Then, these frustrated men step further down the path of perversion and try to find satisfaction in sins to abominable to mention.

Throughout all segments of society, men and women, and even mere boys and girls, are committing adultery with no concern for themselves nor their companion. They only want instant gratification. Those who commit fornication are selfish, and they want only pleasure and satisfaction without responsibility. And, whenever their actions result in a pregnancy they often feel only anger and fear. Everyone can see the results of pornography and immorality on our society. These results include; prisons filled with sex offenders, courts crowded with divorce cases because of infidelity, abortion clinics that are never at a loss for business, illegitimate births, which are occurring at an astonishing rate, and horribly, new born babies being abandoned or killed by unwed, teenage mothers. Everyone who is a party to any of these acts will usually have a history of viewing pornography. No one wakes up one day and, out of the blue, decides to go out and cheat on their spouse. No one who is living a morally clean life suddenly chooses to have sex. These sinful acts are, at first, merely thoughts. And, in almost all cases, pornography, is the driving force of the committed act. The simple truth is, that pornography is the cause of way too many of societies ills.

My message to you is, DO NOT be a part of such things. TURN AWAY from all forms of pornography. Look upon it with repulsion. Get away from it, walk out of the movie, turn off the video, and don’t even rent movies from places, which have a back room. When you see a picture of an almost naked women on a magazine cover, a video sleeve, a poster, or anything else, don’t look upon her with lust. Look away from the picture with pity. For this person has sold her soul for money and has brought shame and regret to at lest some of her family. What if she was your mother, your sister, or your daughter? For every person who sheds their clothes for the camera, there is always some one in their life who sheds tears of remorse. Learn to avoid pornography it as though it were a highly contagious and terminal disease. Because, like a disease, it will cause you pain and grief, it will bring sickness to your soul and ultimately, it will destroy you.
