BACK TO THE FRONT LINES
The 230th was originally a Fed-Com infantry battalion. The war
with the Clans changed all that. During a raid in the Clan Jade Falcon
occupation zone, the 230th ran into a Clan Diamond Shark unit.
It is unkown what the Sharks were doing in Falcon territory, however the fact
remains they were there, and they had a star of Pirahna anti-infantry
mechs with them. With a full sixty heavy machine guns blazing away at them,
two-thirds of the battalion were lost with many more captured. Soon after,
the survivors that escaped capture staged a daring raid where the
230th's POW's were being held by the Sharks. All bondsman from
that perticular prison block were freed. When the Shark MechWarriors started
up their Pirahnas to go after the escapees, they discovered that
thier fusion engines had been sabotaged. That is, they had enough time to
say "What the..." before thier fusion reactors went critical.
When the 230th returned to the Inner Sphere they quit the
Fed-Com in favor of going mercenary. They were able to purchase a number of
support VTOL's. Eventually they have aquired two Dropships and a Jumpship.
