Overpower Strategy
BY Special Cards

Text: V1: "Opponent must discard all cards with a(n) [Power type] icon currently held in hand."

V2: "Opponent must immediately discard 4 cards of opponent's choice with icon of Leech's choice either placed or in hand."

V3: "[Character] must discard all cards with [Power type] icon currently held in Hand. Opponent must discard all cards with [same Power type] icon currently placed or in hand."

Characters who have the Special: Black Cat, Banshee, Comm. Gordon and the G.C.P.D. (V1), Any-Character (V2), Shang-Chi, Scorpion, Leader, Dazzler (V3).

    Rules of Play:

  • V1/V3: Pretty self-explanatory.
  • V2: Power Leech must successfully target a character.
I won't be spending too much tim reviewing Power Leech, 'cause everyone knows how good it is, so this review goes just to the character specific cards.

Before I even get to the reviews, Let me point out the number of cards in OP that have 3 or more of the icons; Multi-power cards (up to 13 in a deck), Teamworks (up to 8 in a deck), Activators (up to 12 in a deck), Multipower special cards (AQ, GJ -- maybe 1, 2). This could add up to 34 cards, more than half of a deck! More than four cards/hand! Add in the regular power cards that would suffer, and the Tactic cards and special cards, and you've got quite a mean card!

The first card came out in Powersurge. It's a killer! Since it doesn't affect you, you have no worries. Your opponent, however will cringe when he sees this! He might have to discard half of his hand and placed cards!

The problem with this card is getting it to land. Especially in battlesite decks, where it seems you draw a negate every hand. There's probably a negate placed on a character, plus maybe one in your oppoent's hand. Plus out the placed negate with an AI. Black Cat has one, and if you place well, you can get one from a Battlesite. If you think there's one in your opponent's hand, play another special card.

The other thing this card can be used for is to flush out the negate before you play a high-power special. Either way, it's a card I'd put into my deck.

Version 3 is a little more tricky. All of these cards force you to discard all of the cards in your hand with a primary skill icon. The simple way around this is to place every card in you hand that has the icon. That could take up to 5 cards. The other benefit from this is that your opponent may venture high thinking that you're going to concede.

I'd put either version into a deck.
