AC -- "Attack made on Front Line Character is know made on any other Front Line Character." [OPD]
Rules of Play:
- The JLA Any-Character may be used by all Marvel Characters, but is limited in DC Heroes and the Trickster, if the tournament is enforcing the DC Hero/Villain rule.
- This card automatically shifts an attack made on a front line character to any other front line character, who may defend with a usuable defensive card.
- The card may also be used on non-numeric attacks, such as AI "Target Hero must discard one placed card" or AV "Target hero may not attack for remainder of battle".
- Once played, the attack is considered to come from the teammate who made the attack, and not from the opponent for purposes of special cards like Domino's "Tripwire".
- Attacks may only be re-directed once. (i.e. If "Cannon Fodder" is in play on Morph, Morph may not re-direct the attack.
- This special superceeds any other specials like "Charm".
Raise your hand if you didn't understand. Good.
To demonstrate why this card is commonly called useless, here's a for instance:
- Thing plays "Clobberin' Time" against Onslaught.
- Onslaught cannot defend, so he moves it over to Spider-Woman.
- Spider-Woman plays "Web Lines" to avoid the attack.
The team avoided the hit, but used two cards to do it, when the opponent used only one. This gives him a one-card advantage, or forces you to lose the advantage you already have.
How about another for instance:
- Onslaught has a level 5 Fighting and a level 4 Energy on his permanent record.
- Opponent plays "Clobberin' Time", which will kill Onslaught.
- JLA re-directs it to Spider-Woman.
In this situation, no card advantage is gained or lost, however, Onslaught is still alive. Unfortunately, those ten points still help your opponent's venture total, (although they would anyways) and can still KO Spider-Woman.
This can be very helpful if you've still got high power specials for that character placed or in hand and want to use them quickly. It's a "Borrowed Time" special.
I prefer the situation when "Web Lines" is placed on Spider-Woman, because no cards are lost, the attack is avoided, Onslaught is alive, the venture is saved, and her placing spot is re-opened.
Other good choices for the re-direct would be any hero with an AL special.
Overall, this card is fun, and I like to use it in my deck whenever I'm playing at an Any-Character tournament. It has saved my butt on occasion.
