BD went as an exchange and was pitched at anyway
Westgate Timeshare Resort Issues

Date of Incident: 4/29/1999

Just wanted to share with you our experience with the high-pressure sales techniques at Westgate. We already own one week of red-time with RCI and traded it to spend a week at Westgate Vacation Villas. When we arrived there late at night (12 am), we were escorted to our suite by a member of the staff (sales rep in disguise) and told that we needed to fill out a "maintenance report" in which we were supposed to list any things that were wrong with the unit so that we wouldn't be blamed for any damages that were already there. The rep told us that he was required to meet with us at some time during our week there to get the report and that he would also "show us around".

My husband explained very clearly that we absolutely were not interested in hearing any kind of sales pitch, as we were there on an exchange, not a "free" weekend. We were told that we would only need to spend one hour with the rep and it wasn't a sales pitch blaah blaah blaah. Needless to say, we were escorted to the "boiler room" aka breakfast room and held hostage for one hour while we were subjected to the rep's pitch and later his boss's phony "one time only" offer. My husband finally lost it and we marched out after one hour and 15 minutes, having refused to listen to any more of their BS. We plan to complain to RCI about this.
