MW Internet has Much Better Offers
Westgate Timeshare Resort Issues
Date of Incident: 11/17/2003
I can only confirm your story, a visit to Westgate was a total waste of time. It was unpleasant and I feel sorry for all the poor people who were talked into this deal.
I realized immediately, that for the amount of maintenance alone, I could pay for decent accommodations in Orlando, without having to pay the price for a timeshare. If you multiply the price of a timeshare with the weeks of the year, then multiply the maintenance and taxes, you end up with the price of a luxury condo on Central Park West in Manhattan. I did that and the sales rep actually wanted to convince me that this is the real property value in Orlando!
They did not allow me to even take a business card home, not to mention a financial statement or anything.
Everybody who has at least a little common sense will realize that there must be something wrong...
I had the same experience, by the way, at the Flagship Resort in Atlantic City. The sales reps there told me exactly the same things, they must have all been trained by the same people. Thank God I thought about the outrageous offer in Atlantic City a lot, so I had at least some knowledge and this offer in Westgate was not that surprising to me.
These sales reps talk so much, so fast, and present you with so many facts (true or false, who knows...) in such a confident way, that you tend to believe them.
Checking the internet, I found lots of offers now from people who want to sell their timeshares - so they can't be that great...
