TC Westgate Employees are Ambulance Chasers
Westgate Timeshare Resort Issues

Date of Incident: 9/15/2003

My husband and I traveled with a couple in 2001 that had previously purchased a timeshare 2 years prior. Upon arriving we were invited to a breakfast with two other couples (the owners and 1 non-owner, like ourselves ) . Soon after arriving we were approached by a SALESMAN, that very cordially invited himself to join us. My husband and I with our family had previously stayed at westgate for 1 week, purchased on line for 850.00 and went on a 3.5 hour tour billed as 90 minutes. My husband and I knew the spill, but the other non owners were bright eyed and interested .The pressure began to build and the other couple became more and more interested in purchasing the time share, even though they had earlier verbalized they were in financial straits, credit problems and trying desperately to save money to purchase a home. The salesman stroked the other couple trying to win my husband’s and my interest in a unit, to no avail. Eventually, he questioned us as to how we were able to visit westgate without owning and without touring. Our reply to him was that we are invited by our UNINFORMRED friends that own here! Needless to say he was not happy with our answer and ignored us for the remainder of his push. The other couple did fall victim and purchased a unit for 1 week bi-yearly, paying 150.00 per month for the next 30 years!! The posture of the salesman was to state “not everyone can afford this but obviously someone like you can). The salesman’s advice to me was “when you go to timeshare facility do not wear your jewelry, because it will only make the salesperson more aggressive regarding selling to you.”

In my opinion visiting westgate first about five years ago I found it to be more reasonable with their sales approach and I found their clientele to be more selective. Westgate appears to be the ambulance chasers of timeshares with little regard for their tactical and/or selection processes. WE STILL DO NOT OWN AT WESTGATE, but we plan to visit this summer on a non-touring promotion, 5days and 4 nights for the lovely price of $316.00, including two theme park tickets, and a buy 1 get 1 cruise coupon ( all has been reviewed by my atty).
