Your description of your sales experience cannot be far from the truth as it is almost word-for-word what happened at our tour in 1997.
I just finished reading your web posting and I can not believe the similar situation we had. My wife and I have 4 children so time is valuable to us while we are on vacation We rented from an owner at Westgate and we were not suppose to have any interview. Of course we were not privied to any free tickets, which I tend to get cheaper anyways since I work for the military. Well what happened to us was that they assign a person to you to help us when we first checked in, he assisted us with getting accomadeted to the resort and to our condo. He asked if we could attend a mainteance interview with him mid week to just make sure everything was OK. Well guess what the maintenance interview turned out to be? You got it a sales pitch!!!!
Once we said NO, he proceeded to bring over the manager, some balding hispanic guy who really tryed to turn on the pressure! I keep saying NO! and he asked for the reason and I told him right up front, because with the internet I can go to any timeshare I want mostly anytime I want and rent. People who buy into timeshares rarely go on vacation every year and are willing to rent them! I have been doing this since 1992 and I have never had a problem. Well Mr Sales manager disagreed and keep trying to push the sale, untill my wife finally got upset enough and left the room crying!
That was it! I threatened to report the whole operation and their rudness to the proper people. I am not sure on how you made it but I would like to offer you my advice, do not buy, there are always available rooms to rent at these places. Just to let you know I rented through an owner and got a two bedroom condo for $600 for the week. I took 2 weeks at $1200.
